Sophisticated Gold Trading Engine is an automated expert advisor for XAUUSD (Gold) on MetaTrader 5. It focuses on carefully selected moments of the gold market and manages every position as one basket with a common take-profit.
Key features
- 7 independent trading modules, each specialised for a different phase of the gold market across the Asian, European and US sessions.
- Proprietary momentum engine. Every module waits for its own set of market conditions before it is allowed to trade, and stays inactive the rest of the time. It trades selectively, not constantly.
- Smart basket management. One basket at a time. Positions are managed together and closed together with a common take-profit. No martingale: the lot size is never multiplied.
- No positions held through market breaks. Open baskets are closed before the daily market break and before the weekend.
- Built-in protection: news filters (NFP, FOMC), a holiday pause, an extreme-volatility filter, a spread filter and an adjustable equity guard.
- Automatic lot sizing from the account balance, or a fixed lot.
- On-chart status panel showing whether the engine is active, the last signal, the last trade and its result, today's profit and the balance, plus a live connection indicator.
- Simple setup: one chart, any timeframe. The engine manages its timeframes internally.
Requirements
- Symbol: XAUUSD, with gold quoted to 2 decimals (for example 2650.25)
- Account: ECN / RAW with low spreads, hedging account required
- Broker server time: GMT+2 / GMT+3 (most ECN brokers). For other server times use the input "Hours to add to module schedule".
- Leverage: 1:100 or higher (1:500 recommended)
- Minimum deposit: $500; recommended $1,000 or more
- VPS strongly recommended. The engine must run 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Installation
- Attach the EA to one XAUUSD chart (any timeframe).
- Allow Algo Trading.
- Choose your risk with "Balance per 0.01 lot": 1200 = Low risk (recommended to start), 600 = Medium risk (default).

Backtest results
XAUUSD, every tick based on real ticks, $1,000 deposit, Medium risk, default settings:

Each period was tested separately, starting from $1,000. Automatic lot sizing was used: within each period the lot size grows with the balance, so profits compound.
Broker settings
- The engine is designed for brokers using GMT+2 (winter) / GMT+3 (summer) server time, the standard "New York close" clock used by most ECN brokers. On these brokers leave "Hours to add to module schedule" at 0.
- For other server times, set "Hours to add to module schedule" to the broker's GMT offset minus 2 (for example, GMT+0 = -2). The panel shows a reminder if the broker's time zone looks different.
- Run one copy per account: a single XAUUSD chart runs all modules. A second copy with the same Magic number will not trade. If you run more than one copy, give each a different Magic number.
Risk warning
This EA uses an averaging grid without a fixed stop-loss. Most baskets close in profit, but a strong one-way move can produce a large floating loss. Backtests 2025-2026 showed maximum equity drawdowns of 16-26%; future drawdowns can be larger. Use only risk capital, start with Low risk and test on a demo account first. Past performance, including backtests, does not guarantee future results.
