Goldjager uses a progressive lot-sizing recovery strategy. This means that when the market moves against an open basket, the EA may add positions at grid intervals with larger lot sizes.
This strategy can perform well during ranging or mean-reverting market conditions because additional positions can improve the average entry price.
However, it also carries significant risk.
During a strong, sustained trend, the EA may continue building exposure while the market moves against the basket. Because each recovery level uses a larger lot size, margin usage and floating drawdown can increase rapidly.
The strategy should therefore be evaluated based on:
- Maximum floating drawdown
- Maximum margin/deposit load
- Maximum basket volume
- Number of grid levels reached
- Broker volume limits
- Margin requirements
- Performance during strong trending markets
- Performance during gaps and high-volatility events
The EA contains protections and limits, but these do not eliminate martingale risk. A broker volume limit can also prevent further recovery levels from being opened, leaving the remaining basket exposed without additional averaging capacity.

Goldjager is designed around a grid/martingale recovery mechanism, so account size and leverage should always be considered together with the selected starting lot and maximum exposure.
A higher leverage ratio does not make the strategy safer. It mainly changes the margin required to maintain a given position size. The primary risk comes from the increasing position volume as the grid expands.
For this reason, users should start with a small lot size, perform extensive backtesting and forward testing, and monitor floating drawdown, margin usage, deposit load, maximum basket volume, and the number of grid levels reached.
The EA itself includes controls for equity stops, deposit-load limits, broker volume ceilings, trading sessions, spread filtering and optional news protection.
