Gold Edge Portfolio EA

Gold Edge Portfolio EA trades XAUUSD with six independent, simple strategies at the same time. Each engine has its own on/off switch, its own magic number and its own risk per trade, and every trade is placed with a hard stop loss. There is no grid, no martingale, no averaging and no hedging — one position per engine at most.
What makes it different is transparency: a dashboard on the chart shows the live state and the real statistics of every engine — trades, win rate, profit factor, net profit, maximum drawdown and today's result — read from your own account history. You always see which part of the portfolio works on your broker, and you can switch any engine off with one click.
The six engines
- London Breakout — the Asian range (19:00–01:00 New York time) is bracketed with two stop orders; the stop sits at the other side of the range, the target at 2R. Unfilled orders are cancelled at 09:00 NY and an open trade is closed at 15:00 NY. Ranges that are too small or too large compared with the daily ATR are skipped.
- NY Momentum — breakout of the New York opening range (09:30–10:30 NY) with stop orders, stop at the other side of the range, target 2R; cancelled at 13:00, closed at 16:00 NY.
- Swing Breakout (H1) — a stop order just beyond the latest confirmed swing high in the direction of the 200 EMA; ATR stop, 3R target, limited order life and holding time.
- Trend Pullback (H4) — buys a short-term RSI(2) dip while price holds above its long-term average; ATR stop, 2R target, time exit.
- Mean Reversion (D1) — fades a daily RSI(2) extreme in the direction of the 200-day trend, long or short; ATR stop, 2R target, time exit.
- Trend Rider (D1) — joins a close beyond the 55-day channel; ATR stop, 2R target, time exit.
The engines trade different sessions and timeframes. In our research their monthly results had correlations between −0.03 and 0.36, so they rarely win or lose together. Every engine can be set to long and short, long only or short only; the defaults trade the two session engines and Mean Reversion in both directions and the three trend engines long only (in the 2017–2022 research period their short side did not have an edge on gold).
Prop-firm account guard
- Daily loss limit (% of the day's starting balance or equity, whichever is higher): closes all trades and pauses until the next server day.
- Maximum drawdown, static from the starting balance (prop-firm style) or trailing from the equity high: closes all trades and stops the EA until you reset it.
- Maximum open risk: the sum of the stop-loss risk of all open trades and pending orders of all engines.
- News filter using the MT5 economic calendar: no new entries for a chosen number of minutes before and after high-impact (optionally medium-impact) events of the chosen currencies (default USD). Works on live and demo accounts; the Strategy Tester has no calendar.
- Friday close (optional): no new entries on Friday afternoon and flat before the weekend.
- Spread guard (in points and as a % of the stop distance) and maximum slippage for market orders.
Dashboard
- Account guard bars for daily loss, drawdown and open risk against their limits, today's profit, spread, next news event and weekend status, plus an overall status badge (trading, paused, stopped).
- One row per engine: ON/OFF toggle, live state (range window, pending order prices, open trade with floating profit), risk %, trades, win rate, profit factor, net profit, maximum drawdown and today's profit, and a portfolio total row.
- Move it by dragging the title bar, minimise it to one line, switch between a dark and a light theme. Position, theme and toggles are remembered after a timeframe change or a terminal restart. Sizes follow the screen DPI (100 %–200 %) and can be scaled.
Broker-proof execution
- Works with any gold symbol name: an empty symbol input trades the chart symbol, "XAUUSD" is resolved to the broker's tradable name (XAUUSD.a, XAUUSDm, GOLD, …), and a close-only chart symbol is replaced by its tradable variant automatically.
- Position size from the risk % and the stop distance, checked against free margin, the broker's minimum/maximum/step volume and volume limit; stops and freeze levels, filling modes and every trade return code are handled; time exits wait for the market to reopen after gold's daily break.
- New York session times follow US daylight saving automatically; the broker's GMT offset is detected (manual override available).
- No DLLs, no web requests.
Presets: Balanced (the defaults, 0.5 % per engine), Prop Firm (0.25 % per engine, 3 % daily loss, 6 % max drawdown, 1.5 % max open risk, Friday close), Growth (1 % per engine, 6 % daily loss, 20 % max drawdown) and Sessions Only (only the two intraday engines, flat every day). The values are listed here, and the preset files are posted in the product's Comments — no need to ask for set files by private message.
Backtest (every tick based on real ticks, IC Markets demo data, XAUUSD H1, 10 000 USD, 0.5 % risk per engine; parameters chosen on 2017–2022, then checked on 2023–2026):
- 2017–2026, default inputs: net profit +36 435 USD on 10 000 USD, profit factor 1.18, 5 815 trades, maximum equity drawdown 9.6 % (spread and commission included).
- In-sample 2017–2022: profit factor 1.06 (+5 723 USD). Out-of-sample 2023–2026: profit factor 1.28 (+30 711 USD).
- Profit factor per engine (in-sample / out-of-sample): London 1.08 / 1.21, NY Momentum 1.08 / 1.12, Swing 1.09 / 1.52, Trend Pullback 0.84 / 1.20, Mean Reversion 0.98 / 1.32, Trend Rider 1.53 / 2.86.
- Losing years: 2019 (−1 134 USD) and 2021 (−746 USD). M30 (2020–2026) gave a similar result (PF 1.16, drawdown 11.1 %); on M15 the swing engine is weaker and the default 8 % drawdown guard stopped the EA in 2022 — use H1.
Backtests are simulations, not a promise of future results. Gold's strong rise in 2023–2026 helped the trend engines; expect weaker periods, and always forward test on a demo account first. Results depend on your broker's spread, commission and execution.
Recommended: XAUUSD, H1 chart (the engines use their own timeframes, so the chart timeframe does not change the signals), ECN/raw-spread account, VPS for 24/5 operation, minimum 1 000 USD (5 000 USD+ recommended so that 0.5 % risk is above the minimum lot). One chart runs the whole portfolio.
