Momentum scalper: impulse-bar breakout with trend bias, ATR stops, break-even, time exit, daily trade cap and loss-streak stop.
Short-term momentum trades only work with strict limits: quick entries, tight management, and a hard stop on bad days. This Expert Advisor looks for one thing on the signal timeframe (default M5): a strong candle whose body is at least a set fraction of ATR and whose close breaks the high or low of the previous bars, in the direction of an EMA on a higher timeframe (default EMA 50 on M30).
Risk and management:
- Stop loss and take profit are multiples of ATR. If the broker's minimum stop distance forces a wider stop, the target is kept and the trade is skipped when reward falls below risk.
- The stop moves to entry plus one tick once price covers a set fraction of the target distance. Trades still open after a set number of bars are closed at market.
- One position at a time, a maximum number of entries per day, and a stop for the day after a set number of losses in a row.
- Lot size comes from a fixed percentage of the balance for every trade and is never increased after a loss.
- Trading-hours window, optional spread limit, daily loss limit and optional total drawdown floor.
Before every order the EA takes a fresh price, keeps stop loss and take profit outside the broker stops level, freeze level and spread, rounds prices to the symbol tick size and checks volume limits and free margin for the exact order type. It never increases the lot after a loss and uses no grid, martingale or averaging. It does not use DLLs, web requests or external services, and it runs on any symbol and timeframe.
Recommended symbols and timeframes
- Signal timeframe M5 with M30 bias (inputs InpTF and InpBiasTF); the chart timeframe does not matter.
- Liquid, low-spread symbols such as EURUSD and XAUUSD. Scalping results depend heavily on spread and execution; test with your broker's real conditions.
