QCL Structure Trail for MetaTrader 4
QCL Structure Trail combines confirmed market structure breaks with a volatility-based trailing line. It helps traders identify directional changes and follow price movements through a clear display directly on the chart.
How It Works
The indicator identifies confirmed swing highs and swing lows using the selected Pivot Confirmation Length.
A bullish signal appears when the closing price crosses above the latest confirmed swing high. A bearish signal appears when the closing price crosses below the latest confirmed swing low.
Signals alternate direction. Additional signals in the same direction are suppressed until an opposite structure break occurs.
Following a bullish signal, the trailing line uses Close − ATR × Multiplier and can only move upward or remain unchanged. Following a bearish signal, it uses Close + ATR × Multiplier and can only move downward or remain unchanged.
An opposite structure-break signal resets the trailing line for the new direction.

Reading the Chart

Green trailing line: the latest structure-break signal was bullish.

Red trailing line: the latest structure-break signal was bearish.

Up arrow: a bullish structure break.

Down arrow: a bearish structure break.
Crossing the trailing line alone does not generate a reversal signal or change the trend color. An opposite structure break is required.
Input Parameters
Pivot Confirmation Length — Default: 10
Number of bars required on each side of a swing candidate. Higher values identify broader swings and require more confirmation time.
ATR Period — Default: 14
Period used to calculate Wilder-smoothed Average True Range.
ATR Multiplier — Default: 4.0
Controls the volatility distance used by the trailing line. Higher values generally create a wider distance from price.
Display Signal Arrows — Default: True
Shows or hides the bullish and bearish signal arrows.
The trailing line is always enabled. Signal-arrow distance is fixed at 0.35 ATR. Line and arrow colors can be adjusted through the Colors tab.
Who It Is For
QCL Structure Trail is suitable for discretionary traders who use market structure, trend-following methods and volatility-based trade management. It can complement price-action analysis on intraday and higher-timeframe charts.
Signal Timing
Swing points are confirmed only after the required number of subsequent bars has formed. Breakout arrows appear on the signal bar rather than being placed retrospectively on the swing bar.
The current candle is evaluated in real time. Its signal and trailing-line value may change before the candle closes. Use closed candles when assessing confirmed signals.
Important Information
QCL Structure Trail is an analytical indicator for MetaTrader 4. It does not open trades, place stop-loss orders or manage positions automatically. The trailing line serves as a visual reference.
