Tokyo Session Duo is a USDJPY Expert Advisor that trades the Tokyo session with two independent, rule-based breakout systems. Every trade has a stop loss from the moment it is placed. There is no grid, no martingale, no averaging down and no hedging.

What it does

  • Two complementary Tokyo-session breakout systems working together on USDJPY.
  • Stops adapt to current market volatility instead of fixed pip distances.
  • At most one trade per system per day; unfilled orders are removed the same morning.
  • Portfolio logic stops the two systems from doubling up on the same move.
  • Every position has a hard stop loss and a time-based exit, so nothing is left open indefinitely.

Risk and prop-firm features

  • Fixed % risk per trade (default 0.5%).
  • Challenge mode: higher risk while the account is above its starting balance, lower risk below it.
  • Funded mode: higher risk until the account is X% below its peak, then lower risk.
  • Daily loss guard and maximum drawdown guard (closes everything and stops trading when reached).
  • Spread filter, margin, volume and broker stop-level checks before every order.

Backtest (please read the notes)

5 years of USDJPY M5 data, October 2021 - September 2026, 0.5% risk per trade, spread-based costs included, default settings:

  • About 29% average yearly return (compounded), maximum drawdown 7.6% of balance.
  • Both systems were profitable in 2021-2024. In 2025-2026 the first system stayed strong while the second was about break-even.

These are backtest results, not live results. Backtests do not include every real-world cost (variable spreads, slippage, swap) and the past does not guarantee the future. Losing streaks happen: the backtest had runs of 10 losing trades in a row. Please run the free demo in the Strategy Tester on your own broker's USDJPY data before buying, and start on a demo account.

Requirements

  • Symbol: USDJPY (any suffix, e.g. USDJPY.m). Designed and tested ONLY on USDJPY. It runs on other symbols but results there are untested and the chart shows a warning.
  • Timeframe: any (attach to one chart).
  • Account: hedging or netting. Low USDJPY spread during the Asian session recommended (raw/ECN accounts best).
  • VPS recommended so the EA is running during the Tokyo session.
  • Server time is detected automatically live. In the Strategy Tester an EET (GMT+2/+3) server is assumed; if your broker uses another server time, set "Broker server UTC offset".

  • Risk mode, risk % per trade, high and low risk %.
  • Enable / disable each system.
  • Daily loss limit %, max drawdown %, start balance, close all on guard.
  • Broker server UTC offset, magic numbers.
