BG Gold MT5
BG Gold is an automated breakout Expert Advisor designed primarily for Gold trading on MetaTrader 5.
A Personal Note from the Developer
Over the past several years, I have experienced many of the challenges familiar to retail traders, including losses, changing market conditions, and difficulties finding an automated approach suitable for my trading objectives.
Those experiences encouraged me to study trading more carefully, test different approaches, and place greater importance on disciplined risk control and transparent trade management.
BG Gold is my first Expert Advisor prepared for public release. It was developed through that practical learning process, not as a promise of easy profits, but as a focused and configurable Gold breakout tool that traders can test and adjust according to their broker conditions and personal risk tolerance.
Proprietary Breakout Framework
BG Gold uses a proprietary, rules-based breakout framework developed for Gold.
The EA evaluates recent price structure, breakout distance, current spread, trading conditions, account restrictions, and execution safety before placing pending orders. Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders may be positioned around the detected trading range. When an order is activated, the resulting position receives an initial Stop Loss and is managed through configurable trailing-stop logic.
The precise entry calculations, internal thresholds, order-placement rules, and decision formulas are proprietary and are not disclosed in this description.
Controlled Breakout Trading
No Grid. No Martingale. No Lot Multiplication. No Averaging Down. No Recovery Basket. No Recovery Hedging.
Each activated position receives its own initial Stop Loss. The requested trading volume is calculated independently using either a fixed lot size or the selected percentage-risk setting.
BG Gold does not increase trading volume to recover previous losses and does not build a recovery grid against an unfavorable price movement. Position and pending-order limits remain controlled through the EA inputs.
The EA does not use a fixed Take Profit. Position exits depend mainly on the initial Stop Loss and configurable trailing protection. This is not a guaranteed-profit or loss-recovery system.

Each dashboard section can be shown or hidden using the controls at the top of the panel. The dashboard background automatically adjusts to the visible sections.
The dashboard can display all open positions on the attached symbol, including manual positions. Trading, order cancellation, and trailing management remain restricted to positions and orders matching the EA Magic Number.
Dashboard analysis is provided for monitoring purposes only. It is not financial advice or a separate discretionary trading signal.
Dashboard visibility does not affect entry calculations, position sizing, Stop Loss placement, trailing-stop management, or execution safeguards. Dashboard rendering is automatically bypassed during non-visual Strategy Tester runs.
Position Sizing and Risk Calculation
BG Gold supports Fixed Lot and Auto Lot position-sizing modes.
Fixed Lot Mode
The EA uses the lot size selected by the user, subject to the configured minimum and maximum volume, broker volume restrictions, and available margin.
Auto Lot Mode
Auto Lot Mode calculates the requested volume using account balance, selected risk percentage, effective Stop Loss distance, tick value, and tick size.
The calculation is:
Risk Amount = Account Balance x Risk Percentage / 100
Value per Point per Lot = Tick Value x (Symbol Point / Tick Size)
Calculated Lot Size = Risk Amount / (Effective Stop Loss Points x Value per Point per Lot)
The effective Stop Loss is the greater of the user-configured Stop Loss distance and the minimum distance permitted by the broker.
After calculation, BG Gold normalizes the requested volume according to the EA limits, broker minimum and maximum volume, broker volume step, available free margin, and symbol aggregate-volume restrictions.
Calculation Example
For illustration, assume:
-
Account balance: $1,000
-
Selected risk: 1%
-
Effective Stop Loss: 500 points
-
Calculated value per point for one lot: $1.00
The risk amount is:
$1,000 x 1% = $10
The requested lot size is:
$10 / (500 x $1.00) = 0.02 lots
This example explains the calculation only. Actual Gold tick value, tick size, contract size, point value, margin requirement, and account currency vary between brokers. BG Gold obtains the applicable symbol information from MetaTrader 5.
If the calculated volume is below the broker or EA minimum, BG Gold may use the minimum permitted volume. Actual risk may therefore exceed the selected percentage, particularly on small accounts.
If valid tick-value, tick-size, or point information is unavailable, BG Gold does not submit a new order. This prevents an invalid risk calculation from being replaced with an unrelated fixed trading volume.
Always verify the resulting volume with the intended broker before live trading.
Automatic Quote-Digit Normalization
Gold prices may be quoted with different numbers of digits depending on the broker. BG Gold can automatically normalize its point-based parameters for commonly used 2-digit and 3-digit Gold symbols. This helps maintain approximately equivalent price distances when the same settings are used with supported Gold quote formats.
Normalization is applied to the breakout distance, maximum spread, initial Stop Loss, trailing settings, risk calculation, and dashboard distance and momentum information. The dashboard displays the detected quote digits and active normalization factor.
Broker stop distance, freeze level, tick size, execution rules, and other symbol restrictions continue to take priority. Automatic normalization can be disabled through the EA inputs if required.
Recommended Default Settings
The default inputs are the developer's recommended starting configuration for M30 Gold testing. They provide a baseline for Strategy Tester evaluation, demo forward testing, pending-order verification, Stop Loss and trailing checks, and broker comparison.
The default 1.00% risk setting is the standard testing baseline. New users and traders with smaller accounts should consider beginning with approximately 0.25% to 0.50% risk.
Default settings are not guaranteed to be suitable or profitable for every broker, account size, or market condition. Test them using the intended broker's real-tick history before making adjustments or beginning live trading.
The interactive dashboard is disabled in the default configuration. It can be enabled when visual monitoring is required.
Daily Equity-Loss Protection
BG Gold includes an optional daily equity-loss limit based on account equity relative to the reconstructed balance at the beginning of the current broker-server day.
When the configured limit is reached:
-
New entries are blocked for the remainder of the broker-server day.
-
Untriggered pending orders belonging to BG Gold are cancelled.
-
Existing positions are not automatically closed.
-
Existing BG Gold positions retain their Stop Loss and trailing management.
-
Trading eligibility is evaluated again on the next broker-server day.
This is an additional execution safeguard. It cannot guarantee that losses will be limited to the exact selected percentage because price gaps, slippage, commissions, swaps, execution delays, and open-position movement can affect the final result.
Seasonal Trading Pause
Gold can experience reduced liquidity, wider spreads, irregular execution, and unpredictable price movement around the Christmas and New Year period.
BG Gold includes an optional year-end trading pause. By default, the EA blocks new entries from December 24 through January 7 and resumes entry processing on January 8. The dates use broker-server time and can be adjusted through the inputs.
While the pause is active, BG Gold cancels its untriggered pending orders and does not create new entries. Existing positions are not automatically closed and retain their Stop Loss and trailing management. Manual trades and positions belonging to another Expert Advisor are not modified.
Broker and Execution Validation
Before submitting an order, BG Gold checks applicable conditions including:
-
Broker minimum, maximum, and step volume
-
Available account margin and account pending-order limit
-
Symbol aggregate-volume limit and trading permissions
-
Supported pending-order types and expiration modes
-
Minimum Stop Loss and pending-order distance
-
Freeze-level restrictions and symbol tick size
These checks improve order-handling reliability but cannot prevent broker rejection, slippage, requotes, connection problems, or abnormal execution conditions.
