User Manual

1. Introduction

Gold Momentum EA is an Expert Advisor designed for automated trading on MetaTrader 5. Once installed and configured, the EA can analyze market conditions and automatically manage trading operations according to its programmed strategy and user-defined parameters.

2. Installation

Step 1: Install the EA

  1. Open MetaTrader 5.
  2. Click File → Open Data Folder.
  3. Open the MQL5 folder.
  4. Open the Experts folder.
  5. Copy the Gold Momentum EA file into the Experts folder.
  6. Restart MetaTrader 5 or refresh the Navigator window.
  7. Locate the EA under Navigator → Expert Advisors.

Step 2: Attach the EA to a Chart

  1. Open the chart of the symbol you want to trade.
  2. Select the desired timeframe.
  3. Drag Gold Momentum EA onto the chart.
  4. Enable Algo Trading.
  5. Review the EA settings.
  6. Click OK.

3. Main Input Parameters

Maximum Trades

Defines the maximum number of trades the EA is allowed to open.

Default: 5

Lower values may help limit simultaneous exposure.

Lot Size

Defines the trading volume used for each position.

Default: 0.01 lots

Users should select a lot size appropriate for their account balance and risk tolerance.

Risk-to-Reward Ratio

Defines the relationship between the potential Stop Loss and Take Profit.

Default: 1:2

For example, if the EA uses a 100-point Stop Loss, a 1:2 ratio may target approximately 200 points of potential profit.

Base Candles

Defines the number of candles used by the EA in its market analysis.

Default: 5

This parameter may influence how the EA identifies potential market structures and trading conditions.

Zone Buffer

Defines the buffer distance used in the EA's signal analysis.

Default: 100 points

The appropriate value may vary depending on the symbol, broker, and market conditions.

Stop Loss

Defines the protective Stop Loss distance.

Default: 300 points

A Stop Loss is used to limit potential losses when a trade moves against the position.

Magic Number

A unique identification number used by the EA to identify and manage its own trades.

Default: 20260331

If multiple EAs are running on the same account, different Magic Numbers should be used.

4. Recommended Testing Procedure

Before using the EA on a live account:

Backtesting

  1. Open the Strategy Tester in MetaTrader 5.
  2. Select Gold Momentum EA.
  3. Select the desired trading symbol.
  4. Select the preferred timeframe.
  5. Select a suitable historical period.
  6. Run the test.
  7. Review the results, drawdown, number of trades, and trading performance.

Demo Testing

After backtesting, run the EA on a demo account to observe its behaviour under live market conditions.

It is recommended to test the EA for a sufficient period before considering live use.

5. Risk Management

6. Troubleshooting

The EA Is Not Opening Trades

Check the following:

  • Algo Trading is enabled.
  • The EA is attached to the correct chart.
  • The market is open.
  • The lot size is valid for the broker.
  • There is sufficient free margin.
  • The maximum trade limit has not been reached.
  • The trading symbol is supported by the broker.

The EA Shows an Error

Check the Experts and Journal tabs in MetaTrader 5 for additional information.

Possible causes include:

  • Invalid trading volume.
  • Insufficient margin.
  • Invalid Stop Loss or Take Profit distance.
  • Market closure.
  • Broker trading restrictions.
