Special Notes & Recommendations, very very important:
very important:
---Recommended for use on Gold (XAUUSD), preferably with brokers that offer 3‑digit decimal pricing.
---Spread has a significant impact on profitability; we recommend using brokers with tight spreads, such as Exness or IC Markets.
---When the MT5 client is closed, hidden stop‑loss orders become ineffective. With large positions, this may lead to substantial losses. It is strongly recommended to run the EA on a VPS to avoid client shutdowns caused by unexpected power outages, network disconnections, etc.
---If you encounter consecutive losses, please remain patient – you will eventually see profitable periods.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key Features:
I. Order Management Built‑In
To keep the chart’s order layout organized, PivotStorm enforces the following rules simultaneously:
-
Maximum pending orders per direction – limits the number of Buy Stop or Sell Stop orders in the same direction.
-
Minimum price distance between same‑direction orders – prevents orders from clustering.
-
Minimum bar distance between same‑direction orders – spreads orders out over time.
-
Minimum price distance between opposite‑direction orders – avoids signal conflicts.
-
Cooling bars after a close – reduces overtrading.
-
Pending order expiration – automatically deletes unfilled orders after a timeout.
-
Automatic retry – retries after failed order placement, with configurable retry count.
II. Risk Management Framework
PivotStorm adopts a defense‑in‑depth risk control architecture, protecting account safety from multiple levels.
1. Five Risk Levels
Provides five preset risk levels that directly control the percentage of equity risked per trade:
| Level | Risk per Trade |
|---|---|
| Lowest | 1% |
| Low | 2% |
| Medium | 3% |
| High | 4% |
| Highest | 5% |
2. Intelligent Lot Size Calculation
Before each pending order is filled, the lot size undergoes multiple safety checks:
-
Base lot – calculated from the chosen risk level and stop‑loss distance.
-
Margin cap – constrained by available margin to prevent insufficient funds.
-
Stop‑out cap – constrained by the account’s stop‑out level (percentage or amount mode), retaining a safety buffer.
-
Broker’s maximum lot – truncated to the symbol’s maximum allowed volume.
-
Lot step compliance – rounded down to match the symbol’s minimum lot step.
The final lot size is the minimum of all the above limits – always biased toward the safer side.
3. Peak Equity Drawdown Circuit Breaker
From the moment it starts, PivotStorm continuously tracks the account’s peak equity. When equity drops from that peak by a set percentage (e.g., 30%), the EA immediately:
-
Deletes all pending orders.
-
Stops opening new trades.
-
Persists the circuit‑breaker state via global variables, so it remains effective even after MT5 restarts.
This is not a trailing stop for individual positions – it is an account‑level global circuit breaker, triggered only during sustained drawdown.
4. Hidden Trade Protection
All protective price levels are managed internally by the EA and are not sent to the broker’s server:
-
Hidden stop‑loss – based on the stop‑loss points parameter.
-
Hidden take‑profit – based on the take‑profit points parameter.
-
Hidden trailing stop – activates after the floating profit reaches the trailing‑start points, then tracks with a trailing step distance.
This keeps your trade management private while providing full automated protection.
III. Chart Control Panel
A lightweight information panel displays real‑time trading status on the chart:
-
Symbol and strategy timeframe.
-
Current risk level.
-
Pending order expiry status.
-
Drawdown circuit‑breaker monitor (shows current drawdown % vs. threshold).
-
Today’s realised profit/loss.
-
Number of pending orders in each direction (Buy Stop / Sell Stop).
-
Two control buttons (can be disabled):
-
Reload Orders – clears all pending orders and rescan the chart to generate new signals.
-
Clear Orders – immediately deletes all pending orders.
-
Multi‑Symbol Compatibility
PivotStorm automatically adapts to different symbol specifications:
-
Forex (4‑digit and 5‑digit brokers) – unified distance units for consistent behaviour.
-
Gold / XAUUSD (2‑digit and 3‑digit quotes) – version 3.5 introduces a unified pricing model of 1,000 points = $1.00, so the same parameters produce identical dollar distances under different gold quote formats.
-
All symbols that support Stop orders – broker compatibility is verified automatically at runtime.
Usage Recommendations
-
Timeframe: Optimised for M15.
-
Instruments: Works on all symbols that support Stop orders. Already validated on XAUUSD.
-
Account types: Compatible with both Hedging and Netting account modes.
-
First test: Always run in the Strategy Tester first. The EA includes a built‑in lot‑calculation self‑check to verify the correctness of risk calculations.
-
VPS recommended: For 24/7 operation, it is advisable to deploy on a VPS to ensure continuous signal monitoring.
Important Notes
-
Past performance does not guarantee future results. All trading involves risk.
-
The EA uses only pending orders for entry, not market orders.
-
Hidden stop‑loss / take‑profit / trailing stops are managed internally by the EA and are not sent to the broker – when these protection levels are triggered, the EA closes positions on its own.
-
The drawdown circuit‑breaker state persists after EA restarts. To reset it manually, use the Reload Orders button.
-
Please ensure your broker supports STOP pending orders and GTC validity (otherwise, disable the expiry feature in settings).
Version 3.5 Updates
-
Unified gold pricing model – the same input parameters produce the same dollar distance under both 2‑digit and 3‑digit XAUUSD quotes.
-
Enhanced price normalisation with strategy‑level price bucket rounding.
-
Improved broker order‑distance validation using strategy‑aware minimum offset.
-
Drawdown circuit‑breaker state persistence across terminal restarts.
-
Built‑in lot‑size self‑check suite in the Strategy Tester.
-
Fixed internal fallback logic for symbols with zero tick size.
Applicability
Suitable for users who want to automate breakout pending‑order logic in a rule‑based manner. It is recommended to test parameters first in the Strategy Tester and on a demo account before deciding on usage based on actual trading conditions.
Risk Warning
