The Problem Every Gold Trader Knows
You're watching XAUUSD. The RSI is rising. You enter long. Then the Dollar surges, Gold reverses, and you're stopped out — even though your RSI was "right."
A single RSI reading only tells you half the story. Gold doesn't move in isolation. It moves relative to the Dollar. Without knowing which side of that relationship is truly dominant, you're trading blind.
This indicator was built to solve exactly that.
What It Does
The Enhanced GOLD–USD RSI Correlation System displays two RSI lines side by side — one representing Gold momentum, one representing USD strength — so you can see in real time which force is dominant, when they're crossing, and when they diverge. A colour-coded histogram visualises the gap between them, making the relationship impossible to miss even at a glance.
It runs as a separate sub-window indicator, designed to be applied twice on the same chart: once in simple mirror mode for a clean momentum snapshot, and once in basket index mode for institutional-grade strength confirmation. Both instances are fully independent and configurable.
Two Modes, Two Layers of Confirmation
Mode 1 — Mirror Mode (Simple / Fast)
Gold RSI is calculated from XAUUSD price. USD RSI is displayed as its mathematical inverse ( 100 − Gold RSI ). When Gold RSI is at 70, USD RSI reads 30. This gives a clean, frictionless momentum view that is ideal for quick reads on fast timeframes.
Mode 2 — Basket Index Mode (Advanced / Institutional)
USD strength is calculated from a 7-pair weighted currency basket: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, USDCAD, AUDUSD, NZDUSD. Gold strength is independently calculated from a 8-pair XAU basket: XAUUSD, XAUEUR, XAUGBP, XAUAUD, XAUJPY, XAUCHF, XAUCAD, XAUNZD.
Each basket automatically detects which symbols your broker offers and silently skips any that are unavailable — no configuration required when switching brokers. The indicator title displays your live pair count (e.g. [Gold Basket 4/8] ) so you always know exactly what is feeding the calculation.
Use both modes together: Mirror mode for entry timing, Basket mode for directional conviction. When they agree, your confidence should be highest.
Signal Layer Breakdown
1. Strength Histogram
A histogram centred on zero displays the real-time gap between Gold RSI and USD RSI.
- Green bars — Gold is dominant. Momentum favours long XAUUSD positions.
- Red bars — USD is dominant. Momentum favours short XAUUSD positions.
- Bar height — proportional to the strength of the divergence between the two forces.
2. Dual RSI Lines
The Gold RSI line (gold colour) and USD Strength line (red) are drawn over the histogram. Crossings between them are the primary signal trigger. Both lines can be hidden independently if you prefer a clean histogram view — signal logic continues to function correctly regardless of display state.
3. Crossover Arrows
- Green arrow (↑) — Gold RSI crosses above USD RSI. Potential BUY GOLD / SELL USD.
- Magenta arrow (↓) — Gold RSI crosses below USD RSI. Potential SELL GOLD / BUY USD.
Arrows are placed precisely on the bar where the cross occurs and do not repaint on closed bars.
4. Divergence Signals
- Lime arrow — Bullish divergence: Gold RSI in oversold territory while USD RSI is simultaneously overbought. Potential upside reversal.
- Maroon arrow — Bearish divergence: Gold RSI overbought while USD RSI is simultaneously oversold. Potential downside reversal.
These are the highest-conviction signals the system produces and are most reliable when confirmed by the histogram direction.
The High-Probability Setup
Bullish (Buy Gold): Green histogram + Gold RSI crossing above USD RSI + Bullish arrow + Both modes in agreement
Bearish (Sell Gold): Red histogram + Gold RSI crossing below USD RSI + Bearish arrow + Both modes in agreement
Stand Aside: Histogram near zero, RSI lines tangled, or conflicting signals between Mode 1 and Mode 2. The system gives you this information just as clearly as the entry signals — knowing when not to trade is equally valuable.
Smart Alert System

Alert logic is designed to eliminate spam:
- Each signal type has its own state flag — an overbought alert fires once when RSI crosses above 70, then resets only when RSI returns to the neutral zone. It does not fire again every 60 seconds until the level breaks.
- All alerts are gated to one trigger per bar — multiple ticks within the same bar cannot generate duplicate notifications.
- Default cooldown is 300 seconds (configurable), with bar-time gating as the primary filter.

Recommended Setup
For Day Traders (M5–M30) Apply in Mirror Mode. Use RSI cross arrows for entry timing and the histogram for direction bias. Alerts on crosses and extremes.
For Swing Traders (H1–H4) Apply both instances. Use Mirror Mode for entry precision, Basket Mode for directional conviction. Only trade when both agree. Alerts on divergence signals.
For Position Traders (D1–W1) Basket Mode only. Focus on divergence signals and sustained histogram dominance. USD basket strength is particularly valuable for fundamental alignment on daily and weekly timeframes.
