Which of your markets is actually moving today, and which ones are asleep? The Daily Range Pace Dashboard answers that in one glance, for up to 40 symbols.
Columns
- Expected: the typical daily high-low of the last 20 days (median, so one news spike doesn't distort it).
- Today (or Week in weekly mode): the high-low so far.
- Used: today's range as a share of the expected range. Over 100% means today is already bigger than a typical day.
- Pace: today compared with a normal day at this same hour. 1.00x = normal, above 1 = running hot, below 1 = quiet.
- Status: Quiet, Normal, Running hot, or Range used up, colour coded.
Rows are sorted by pace, so the markets running hottest are at the top. You can also sort by range used, or keep your own order. Click any symbol to open it on the chart.
Pace, explained with one example
It's 10:00. EURUSD usually moves 60 pips a day and has moved 30 pips today, so 50% of its range is used. On a normal day, only 25% of the range is done by 10:00.
Pace = 50% ÷ 25% = 2.0x: twice as fast as usual.
Now take the same 30 pips at 18:00, when a normal day has done 90%. Pace = 50% ÷ 90% = 0.56x, quiet. Same distance, opposite story. That's why the dashboard ranks by pace, not by pips.
How it works
For every symbol, the dashboard looks at the last N completed days (default 20) and measures how much of each day's final range had been reached by the end of every 15-minute slot. Averaging the days gives each market its own normal intraday schedule, which matters because gold, indices and forex pairs keep very different hours. Today's range is then compared with that schedule every few seconds. Holidays and short sessions are skipped. Distances are in pips for forex and in price units for other symbols.
Weekly mode
Set Range period to Weekly to rank your markets by weekly pace instead: which ones are ahead of a normal week, and which have already used their weekly range.
Choosing symbols
Leave Symbols empty to use your Market Watch list, or type your own list separated by commas (for example EURUSD,GBPUSD,XAUUSD,US500). The Experts log confirms which symbols the dashboard is watching.
Ways to use it
- Start the session by finding the markets that are actually moving.
- Avoid symbols whose range is already used up before you enter.
- Find quiet markets for range strategies, or hot ones for breakout strategies.
It does not give buy or sell signals. It measures context across your watchlist.
