Volume Rejection Buy Sell Signals
Volume Rejection Buy Sell Signals is a MetaTrader 5 indicator designed to identify potential bullish and bearish reversal setups using local price extremes, wick rejection, relative volume, ATR-normalized candle range and directional pressure.
Instead of generating signals from a single moving average or oscillator crossover, the indicator requires several price-action and participation conditions to agree before a Buy or Sell signal is confirmed.
Signals are generated only after the signal candle has closed.
How It Works
The indicator first monitors recent local highs and lows.
A potential setup begins when price moves beyond one of these recent extremes and then closes back inside the previous range.
The signal is then filtered using:
- Candle rejection structure
- Wick-to-body relationship
- Relative trading volume
- Candle range compared with ATR
- Directional pressure
- Pressure acceleration
- Same-direction signal cooldown
This helps reduce signals caused by simple touches of support or resistance without meaningful rejection.
Buy Signal
A Buy signal requires the completed candle to meet the following conditions:
- Price trades below the previous local low.
- The candle closes back above that level.
- The candle closes bullish.
- The lower wick shows sufficient rejection compared with the candle body.
- Relative volume exceeds the selected minimum.
- Candle range is sufficiently large relative to ATR.
- Directional pressure is positive.
- Bullish pressure is stronger than on the previous bar.
- The Buy signal cooldown has expired.
When all conditions are satisfied, a Buy arrow is displayed on the main chart.
Sell Signal
A Sell signal uses the opposite conditions:
- Price trades above the previous local high.
- The candle closes back below that level.
- The candle closes bearish.
- The upper wick shows sufficient rejection.
- Relative volume exceeds the selected minimum.
- Candle range is sufficiently large relative to ATR.
- Directional pressure is negative.
- Bearish pressure is stronger than on the previous bar.
- The Sell signal cooldown has expired.
A Sell arrow is then displayed above the signal candle.
Volume Rejection Pressure
The indicator includes a dedicated pressure histogram in a separate window.
The pressure model combines:
- Close location inside the candle range
- Candle body efficiency
- Relative volume
- Candle range relative to ATR
The resulting value is smoothed to create a directional pressure reading.
Positive pressure represents stronger bullish activity.
Negative pressure represents stronger bearish activity.
Brighter histogram bars indicate strengthening pressure, while softer bars indicate weakening pressure.
Relative Volume
Relative Volume compares the current candle volume with the average volume of previous candles.
If the broker provides real volume, the indicator uses it.
When real volume is unavailable, the indicator automatically uses tick volume.
This makes the volume filter usable on common MetaTrader 5 Forex, metals and CFD feeds where tick volume is often the available volume source.
Trade Plan
After a confirmed Buy or Sell signal, the indicator can display a visual trade plan directly on the chart.
The plan includes:
- Entry
- Stop Loss reference
- TP1
- TP2
- Swept price level
Entry is based on the closing price of the confirmed signal candle.
For a Buy setup:
Stop Loss reference = Signal Low - ATR Buffer
For a Sell setup:
Stop Loss reference = Signal High + ATR Buffer
Targets are calculated using the distance between Entry and the Stop Loss reference.
Default target levels are:
TP1 = 1R
TP2 = 2R
These levels are technical reference levels only. The indicator does not automatically open, close or manage trading positions.
Dashboard
The indicator includes a compact chart dashboard showing the current market information used by the signal engine.
The dashboard displays:
- Current pressure bias
- Pressure value
- Relative Volume
- Candle Range / ATR
- Latest confirmed signal
This allows the trader to quickly see whether current activity is dominated by bullish pressure, bearish pressure or a balanced condition.

Input Parameters
Signal Engine
Extreme Lookback
Defines the number of previous candles used to determine the local high or low.
Volume Lookback
Defines the historical period used to calculate average volume.
Minimum Relative Volume
Controls the minimum required volume activity compared with recent candles.
ATR Period
Period used for Average True Range calculations.
Minimum Range ATR
Defines the minimum candle range relative to ATR required for a signal.
Minimum Wick Body Ratio
Controls how strong the rejection wick must be compared with the candle body.
Pressure Smoothing
Controls the smoothing of the directional pressure calculation.
Minimum Pressure
Defines the minimum bullish or bearish pressure required for signal confirmation.
Cooldown Bars
Prevents repeated same-direction signals from appearing too close together.
Trade Plan
SL ATR Buffer
ATR-based distance added beyond the signal candle high or low for the Stop Loss reference.
TP1 RR
Risk-to-reward multiplier for the first target.
TP2 RR
Risk-to-reward multiplier for the second target.
Plan Projection Bars
Controls how far the Entry, Stop Loss and Target lines extend across the chart.
Display
Show Signal Arrows
Enables or disables Buy and Sell arrows.
Show Swept Level
Displays the local high or low that was swept before the rejection signal.
Show Dashboard
Enables or disables the chart information panel.
History Arrow Bars
Controls how much historical signal visualization is loaded on the chart.
Signal, Entry, Stop Loss and Target colors can also be customized.
Alerts
The indicator supports optional:
- Popup alerts
- Push notifications
- Email alerts
Alerts are triggered when a new Buy or Sell signal is confirmed on a completed candle.
Alert functions are disabled by default and can be enabled from the indicator inputs.
Signal Timing
Buy and Sell signals are confirmed only after the signal candle has closed.
The currently forming candle may change its pressure, Relative Volume, ATR relationship and dashboard values as new ticks arrive.
No Buy or Sell signal is committed to the current candle until that candle is complete.
Historical confirmed signals are not recalculated because of price movement on later candles.
EA Integration
The indicator exposes dedicated buffers that can be read by an Expert Advisor through the standard MetaTrader 5 indicator interface.
Buy Signal buffer:
Contains the signal candle closing price when a confirmed Buy signal occurs.
Sell Signal buffer:
Contains the signal candle closing price when a confirmed Sell signal occurs.
Otherwise the signal buffers return EMPTY_VALUE.
This allows the indicator to be used as a visual trading tool or as a signal component in a custom automated system.
Trading Use
Volume Rejection Buy Sell Signals can be evaluated for:
- Price rejection analysis
- Swing reversal setups
- Liquidity sweep and reclaim situations
- Support and resistance rejection
- Intraday analysis
- Momentum reversal confirmation
- Volume-confirmed price action
The indicator does not contain a hard-coded trading symbol or fixed chart timeframe.
Different instruments and timeframes can produce different signal frequency and behavior, so users should evaluate the settings for their own market and trading approach.
Risk Management
The Entry, Stop Loss and Target levels displayed by the indicator are reference levels for technical analysis.
Position sizing, maximum account risk and trade management remain the responsibility of the trader.
Historical signals or target levels do not guarantee future results.
