Active traders frequently encounter costly traps during corrective phases within apparent trends. Positions are often initiated during a retracement on the assumption that prevailing momentum will carry price forward, only for the move to turn into a full structural breakdown. Entering dips without verifying whether underlying trend strength is expanding or decelerating exposes accounts to severe drawdowns. Volatile wicks in fading trends frequently shake out early positions, while entering after momentum has already dissipated leads to chasing exhausted swings.
