The Idea Behind It

Every trading day, before the institutional money decides which way it wants to go, there is a moment — a single, quiet, predictable moment — when the market's true intent reveals itself. On XAUUSD, that moment arrives with the London/NY overlap. On the CAC40/FRA40, it arrives with the Paris cash open. Two markets. Two windows. One behavior: the daily range breaks, and the first real move of the day begins.

The Daily Break was built on that single observation. Nothing more. Nothing less. It does not chase. It does not guess. It does not trade every tick, every signal, every indicator cross. It waits — patiently, mechanically, without emotion — for the two prices that matter most in any trading day: the previous day's high and the previous day's low. Those two lines are the boundary between order and chaos. The Daily Break stands guard on both sides and strikes the moment price crosses them, during the only hours when that breakout actually means something.

This is not a scalper. This is not a grid. This is not a martingale. This is not another "AI-powered" black box that changes its mind every hour. The Daily Break is a pure, transparent, rule-based breakout system designed for the two instruments that respect breakouts more than anything else: gold and the French index.

Why Gold and the CAC — Specifically

Most multi-asset EAs are multi-asset only on the marketing page. They claim to trade "anything" but perform on nothing because they were never designed for the personality of a specific market. The Daily Break is the opposite. It was designed around the two instruments whose daily behavior most reliably rewards a breakout approach:

XAUUSD (Gold) — Gold is the most liquidity-driven, session-reactive instrument on the retail market. The London/NY overlap (16:00–22:00 server time) is when gold's real daily move is born. Before that window, price is noise. Inside that window, price is decision. The Daily Break trades the decision, not the noise.

FRA40 / CAC40 (French Index) — The Paris cash session (09:00–15:00 server time) is the only time the CAC40 behaves with any directional conviction. Outside those hours, the index drifts. Inside them, it breaks. The Daily Break is built for those six hours and nothing else.

Two markets, two windows, one logic. That is the entire philosophy.

The Strategy — Explained Without Hype

At the start of each trading day, The Daily Break reads the previous completed daily candle. It extracts two numbers:

• The previous daily high

• The previous daily low

These become the reference box. It then places two pending orders:

• A Buy Stop a small configurable buffer above the previous daily high.

• A Sell Stop a small configurable buffer below the previous daily low.

Whichever side breaks first gets filled. The other side is deleted immediately. There is no re-entry, no averaging, no doubling down, no revenge trading. One decision per day per instrument. That is the entire trade engine.

The Stop Loss is fixed and known before the trade opens — 4.00 USD price distance on XAUUSD (which equals exactly 400 points on a 2-digit gold feed and 4000 points on a 3-digit feed, handled automatically), and a configurable index distance on FRA40. The moment the trade is live, the risk is already defined. There is no floating danger. There is no hidden exposure.

Once the position runs 250–300 points into profit (fully configurable), the Stop Loss automatically moves to the exact entry price. From that moment forward, the trade is risk-free. The market can do whatever it wants — you cannot lose on that position anymore.

The Time Filters — Where Most EAs Fail

Most breakout EAs fail for one reason: they trade at the wrong time. A breakout at 03:00 server time on gold is noise. The same breakout at 17:00 server time is a trade. The Daily Break hardcodes this reality:

• XAUUSD trades Monday through Friday, 16:00 to 22:00 server time only.

• FRA40 / CAC40 trades Monday through Friday, 09:00 to 15:00 server time only.

Outside those windows, no new orders are placed, and all unfilled pending orders are deleted. This one feature alone removes the majority of false breakouts that destroy naïve breakout systems.

The News Filter — Native MT5 Economic Calendar

The Daily Break uses MetaTrader 5's native economic calendar — not a web request, not a DLL, not a third-party feed. It reads  CalendarValueHistory  directly from the terminal and checks for high-importance events affecting the relevant currency:

• USD events block trading on XAUUSD.

• EUR events block trading on FRA40.

You control the blackout window with two simple inputs: MinutesBeforeNews (default 30) and MinutesAfterNews (default 30). During that window, no new trades open and all unfilled pending orders are deleted. Open positions are not touched — the EA does not panic-close into news. It simply refuses to be a new victim of it.

If the calendar is unavailable (some brokers, some tester configurations), the filter fails safe: it does not block, it does not crash, it logs and continues.

The Risk Layer — Built Like a Prop Firm Would Build It

The Daily Break treats risk the way a funded trader treats risk: as the first thing, not the last.

Max Daily Loss Protection — Set a hard currency limit (e.g., $500). If the account equity drops below the day's starting balance by that amount, the EA immediately closes all its positions, deletes all its pendings, and stops trading until the next server day. No exceptions. No "one more trade." The day is over.

Two Lot Sizing Modes — Choose how you want to size every trade:

1. Fixed Lots — You set the size. Simple, predictable, good for small accounts or manual testing.

2. Percent Risk — The EA calculates lot size automatically based on your chosen basis (account Balance or Equity) and the exact Stop Loss distance of the symbol. Risk 1% of a $10,000 account with a $4.00 gold Stop Loss and the EA computes the precise lot size that makes 1% the real, measured risk — not a guess, not a rounded number.

Breakeven Protection — Once the trade is deep enough in profit (configurable per symbol), the Stop Loss moves to entry. The trade can no longer lose. This is the single most important psychological and mathematical feature in the EA, and it is on by default.

The Dashboard — Institutional, Not Amateur

Open the chart and you will see a clean, dark, professionally designed information panel in the top-left corner. It is not one of those oversized, ugly, colored-block dashboards that look like a 2008 Excel macro. It is a compact, dark, minimalist panel with a dark navy background, a cyan accent header bar, and labeled rows in a clean sans-serif typeface.

It shows, live, without blinking or flickering:

• Status — RUNNING or LOCKED (Daily Loss Hit)

• Daily P/L — in account currency, colored green or red in real time

• Max Loss — your configured daily limit

• XAU Window — OPEN or CLOSED for the gold session

• FRA Window — OPEN or CLOSED for the CAC session

• News — None / USD / EUR / USD+EUR, colored red when a high-impact event is within the blackout window

• Positions — live count of the EA's open trades
