HTF Filtered Momentum Band is a trend indicator with three layers that each answer one question. The background says which way the H4 trend points. The band says whether momentum on your own chart agrees. The arrows say when a short-term trend has just turned. And out of the box, the arrows stay quiet whenever they disagree with H4.
That last part is why it exists. Most multi-timeframe tools paint the higher timeframe's colour on your chart and then print arrows that ignore it completely. So you get a Buy arrow sitting on a red background, and you're left deciding which of the two to believe.

The fourth row is the one that bites people. A tool that reads the live H4 bar looks perfect on history, because on history every H4 bar is finished. Live, the background can flip, flip back, and leave you in a trade based on a colour that no longer exists on the chart.
What it draws
H4 trend background. A light blue or red tint behind the candles. It comes from a Follow Line calculated on H4: when an H4 close breaks out of its own Bollinger range, a trailing line is set below the low (or above the high) by one H4 ATR and only allowed to move in the trend's direction. The line rising means blue, falling means red.
Momentum band. A glowing line with a soft band around it, cyan while momentum is bullish and red while bearish. The line isn't centred on price. In a bullish state it sits one band-width below the range-weighted average, and in a bearish state one band-width above it. So when the state flips, the line jumps by two band-widths in a single bar.
Momentum dots. A green dot under the band on the bar momentum turns bullish, a red dot above it on the bar it turns bearish. They sit well outside the band on purpose.
Follow Line arrows. A blue up arrow with "Buy" under the bar, a red down arrow with "Sell" above it. They come from the same Follow Line as the background, but calculated on your chart's timeframe with a 23-period Bollinger range and ATR(7). By default an arrow only prints when the H4 background points the same way.
It doesn't draw the Follow Line itself, only the arrows where it turns. It also doesn't colour candles, and there are no stop or target levels, no dashboard, and no volume profile.
Alerts cover momentum BUY/SELL and Follow Line Buy/Sell, each with its own switch, at most once per bar per message. By default they wait for the bar to close. MT5 delivers as a terminal alert, email, mobile push, Telegram, or Telegram with a chart screenshot. MT4 has the terminal alert, push and email.
How to read the signals
Read it top down: background first, band second, arrows last.

Strongest long: blue background, cyan band, then a Buy arrow on a closed bar. All three layers point the same way and the arrow gives you the timing. Treat the band line as the level a pullback shouldn't close through; if price closes back across it and the band turns red, the momentum case is gone.
Strongest short: the mirror image. Red background, red band, Sell arrow.
A green or red dot on its own is early information, not an entry. It says momentum has changed, while the Follow Line and H4 may still disagree. I'd wait for an arrow in the same direction before doing anything with it.
Skip it when the same-direction arrows keep repeating within a dozen bars while the band keeps one colour. That's a range, and the Follow Line is turning on every edge of it. Skip it too when the background has flipped within the last few bars. A fresh H4 turn often gets taken back.
If you'd rather see every turn and judge the H4 context yourself, set Type Of Mode to NO FILTER HIGHER TIME FRAME. The filtered arrows then appear as well.
What it can't do
The H4 background doesn't behave identically on every chart timeframe. The width of the H4 Bollinger range is measured over the last 21 bars of your chart, using the H4 closes those bars see. On H1 that window spans about five H4 closes. On M15 it spans one or two, the range collapses to almost nothing, and the background turns as soon as an H4 close crosses its average. Same H4 data, twitchier background on lower timeframes. If that bothers you, raise the Period of the higher-timeframe section when you're on M15 or M5.
The band width uses the ATR from 20 bars ago. After a sudden volatility spike the band stays narrow for a while, then widens later, when things may already have calmed down.
And the forming bar isn't final. Arrows and dots can appear and disappear while a bar is open. Closed bars don't change, and neither do H4 values, which is why alerts wait for the close unless you turn that off.
You won't find a win rate table in this listing, and I'd treat any indicator listing that has one with some care. This draws a trend picture. Entries, stops and size are yours.
Honestly, the slow part wasn't the drawing, it was checking the logic. I wrote the calculation three separate ways and ran them against each other on 26 parameter sets, all 12 moving-average types and 945 signals until every bar matched.
Questions you'll have
Does it repaint? Closed bars don't. The higher-timeframe values come only from H4 bars that have finished, and every state the calculation carries is stored per bar, so reloading the chart gives the same picture. The bar that's still forming can change until it closes.
MT4 or MT5? There's a separate product page for each, and the logic matches bar for bar with the same defaults. On MT4 the band shows as the glowing line only, because a filled band there is drawn on top of the candles and hides them (you can still switch it on). MT4 has no Telegram alerts.
Why is there no Buy arrow when my chart clearly turned up? The H4 background is red, so the filter held it back. That's the default. Set Type Of Mode to NO FILTER HIGHER TIME FRAME to see it. The momentum dots are never filtered.
What higher timeframe should I use? Keep H4 for M15 to H1 charts. On H4 charts use D1. A resolution equal to or lower than your chart works, it just stops being a higher-timeframe filter.
Best settings? Start with the defaults on H1. On M15 or M5 raise the higher-timeframe Period so the background calms down.
Can an EA use it? Yes. On MT5, buffer 27 holds +1 or -1 on a momentum turn, 35 on a Follow Line Buy or Sell, and 34 the H4 trend. On MT4 the same values sit in buffers 25, 33 and 32.
