Flip-A trades gold by reading one thing: how much the daily candle body dominates its full range. When the market leaves a clear direction, it enters with the trend. When the day is indecisive, it stays out.
And it trades one hour a day.
That single decision defines this robot. Across 28 months of data we measured results hour by hour, and one session concentrated the best performance with the lowest risk. The rest of the day the robot sits idle. That is not a limitation: it is the reason its balance barely retraces.
HOW IT DECIDES
The core measures daily candle strength as the ratio of body to total range. It only trades when that dominance exceeds the configured threshold and the body also reaches a minimum size that adapts to current volatility through ATR. It is not a fixed dollar value, which becomes meaningless when gold changes price level.
Entries are confirmed by M1 candle direction, with optional M5 and M15 validation, plus configurable fast and slow EMA, RSI, ADX and maximum spread filters.
THE THREE RULES THAT KEEP THE CURVE STABLE
1. One session per day. The allowed hours parameter takes a simple list. By default it trades only at 14:00 server time, the best of the ten profitable hours we measured.
2. A 1% daily target. Once the day reaches that gain, the robot stops opening positions until the next session. It gives up long winning streaks in exchange for not handing back what it made.
3. Reversal exit. If the reference candle turns around and starts dominating against the position, the reason to stay in is gone and the basket closes. This is what prevents being trapped for months.
POSITION MANAGEMENT
- Smart pyramiding: adds positions only when the previous one is already protected, either by accumulated profit or because trailing moved its stop into profit.
- Dynamic trailing: per position, collective over the basket floating profit, or both at once. Thresholds expressed as a percentage of balance, so they scale with the account.
- Automatic breakeven: moves the stop to entry plus a buffer once the trade accumulates enough profit.
RISK CONTROL
- Lot sizing by risk percentage or fixed, your choice.
- Adaptive risk: halves and then quarters position size as drawdown deepens, and pauses entries beyond the configured threshold.
- Margin level simulation before opening each position.
- Basket loss cap and daily loss limit.
- Total and net lot exposure control.
- News filter using the MetaTrader 5 economic calendar.
BACKTEST RESULTS
April 2024 to August 2026, XAUUSDc on Exness, 5,000 deposit, 1:100 leverage, "1 minute OHLC" model:
- Net profit: +2,953
- Profit factor: 3.138
- Sharpe ratio: 11.71
- Maximum equity drawdown: 7.26%
- Trades: 567
- Winning trades: 95.8%
- Maximum consecutive losses: 3
Across the 728 days of the period, the balance closed lower on 11 days.
Month-by-month validation, twelve independent months with capital reset to 5,000 each: 11 of 12 months profitable, a single losing month of -14, and maximum monthly drawdown of 4.18%.
WHY A SINGLE HOUR
We tested the ten most profitable hours separately, with identical settings. These are the results over the same period:

These hours refer to one specific broker server. If yours uses a different time zone, the optimal hour shifts by the same amount. Check the hours around the one indicated in the Strategy Tester before going live, and set the InpHorasPermitidas parameter accordingly.
USAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
- Symbol: XAUUSD or its equivalent on your broker (XAUUSDc, GOLD).
- Chart timeframe: irrelevant, the robot reads the daily candle on its own.
- Suggested minimum deposit: 1,000 units of account currency at 1% risk.
- Account type: hedging. Low spread recommended.
- Load the included preset and adjust the hour to your server before trading.
- The news filter requires the economic calendar downloaded in your terminal.
