When the Use Bars To Look Back input parameter is set to false (the default), the indicator calculates the highest high and lowest low based on the currently visible bars in your MetaTrader chart window. This means it dynamically uses whatever portion of the chart you're viewing at the moment (e.g., if you've zoomed in or scrolled to show only the last 50 bars, it will base the Fibonacci levels on the highs/lows within those visible bars). As a result, the Fibonacci retracement lines may shift or update if you change the zoom level or scroll the chart.
When set to true, the indicator ignores the visible chart window and instead uses a fixed number of recent bars (defined by the Bars To Look Back input, default 100) to find the highest high and lowest low. This creates a more consistent Fibonacci drawing that's based on a predefined historical lookback period, regardless of how much of the chart is visible or how you zoom/scroll.
This setting does not interfere with or change the timeframe (e.g., M1, H1, D1) of the chart—it's still using data from the current timeframe. It only affects how far back the indicator searches for the extreme highs/lows within that timeframe to draw the Fibonacci levels. The indicator does not work when the price moves, so alerts cannot be implemented. It simply draws the Fibonacci so that you can see it on the chart.
