WHY RANGE BREAKOUTS?
Markets constantly transition between expansion and contraction.
Strong directional moves are often preceded by periods where price becomes compressed inside a relatively defined area. Buyers and sellers temporarily reach a state of balance, liquidity accumulates around the boundaries, and price repeatedly fails to establish sustained movement outside the structure.
Eventually, that balance can break.
This is what makes range-breakout trading so attractive: rather than trying to predict every market movement, the trader can wait for price to form an identifiable structure and then react when price demonstrates its intention by escaping that structure.
A well-defined range also gives the trader something extremely valuable: objective reference points.
The range high can act as a natural bullish breakout level, while the range low can act as a natural bearish breakout level. The opposite side of the structure provides a logical reference for risk, while the width of the range can be used to project potential price objectives.

A DIFFERENT CLASS OF RANGE DETECTION
Advanced Range Scanner uses a new-generation, multi-layer price-action algorithm designed to go significantly beyond basic range-detection methods.
The scanner doesn't simply ask:
"Has price stayed inside X points for X candles?"
It examines the structure that created the consolidation and how subsequent candles behave around that structure.
The algorithm searches for qualifying consolidations, evaluates price containment, analyzes interactions with important candle-body levels, builds the complete consolidation boundary and can search for larger secondary structures surrounding the initial range.
This allows it to recognize range structures that are difficult to describe using one simple mathematical threshold but can be visually obvious to an experienced trader.
The objective was ambitious: create a scanner capable of interpreting consolidation closer to the way a skilled human trader visually interprets a chart — but automatically, consistently and across multiple timeframes.

PRIMARY + SECONDARY RANGE INTELLIGENCE
Markets do not always produce perfectly isolated ranges.
Sometimes a small consolidation exists inside a much larger structure.
Advanced Range Scanner can identify a primary consolidation and then optionally search deeper into price history for a broader secondary structure.
If a valid larger consolidation completely contains the primary range and satisfies the scanner's requirements, the larger structure can become the active range.
This gives the scanner greater awareness of the surrounding price structure instead of treating every small cluster of candles as an isolated event.
CHOOSE YOUR RANGE STRENGTH
Different traders want different levels of confirmation.
Advanced Range Scanner provides multiple range-strength settings, allowing you to control how demanding the scanner should be when qualifying consolidation structures.
Choose between:
Normal Range Strength — broader detection and standard confirmation.
High Range Strength — stricter structural requirements.

POWERFUL MULTI-TIMEFRAME SCANNER

Not every movement outside a range should necessarily be treated the same way.
Advanced Range Scanner gives you control over how a range is considered broken.
You can use:
Price Break Mode — reacts when price trades beyond a range boundary.
or
Candle Close Mode — waits for a completed candle to close beyond the range.
This gives traders the flexibility to choose between faster breakout recognition and more conservative close-based confirmation.
MOVING AVERAGE QUALIFICATION
Want to trade only ranges or breakouts that agree with a broader directional condition?

For example, you can require consolidation to remain above a selected moving average, require the breakout candle to close above it, use the opposite conditions for bearish setups, or enable only one of the filters.
The MA period, calculation method and applied price are configurable.
BREAKOUT + RETEST DETECTION
For many traders, the breakout is only the first part of the setup.
After a bullish breakout, Advanced Range Scanner can monitor the previous range high for a retest.
After a bearish breakout, it can monitor the previous range low.
The scanner can display:

You can also control how far price is allowed to travel after the breakout before the retest opportunity is considered invalid.
Maximum travel can be defined relative to the width of the original range, with selectable thresholds from 0.1x up to 5x range width.
This creates a structured method for distinguishing a relatively nearby breakout retest from a market that has already traveled significantly away from its original consolidation.
OPTIONAL TRADE SIGNAL PROJECTIONS
Enable Show Trade Signals and Advanced Range Scanner transforms a qualified breakout into a clean visual trade projection.
For a bullish range breakout:
Entry = Range High
Stop Loss = Range Low
For a bearish range breakout:
Entry = Range Low
Stop Loss = Range High
Take-profit targets are calculated from the width of the broken range.
Choose from:
0.5x • 1x • 2x • 3x • 4x • 5x • 6x • 7x • 8x • 9x • 10x Range Width
Default target: 1x Range Width
The chart displays clean Entry, Stop Loss and Take Profit projection lines with their price values.
The projection lines are intentionally compact and extend primarily toward the right side of the breakout so they do not unnecessarily cover the consolidation structure.
A green arrow appears below a bullish breakout candle, while a red arrow appears above a bearish breakout candle.
When a new qualified breakout signal is generated, the previous signal projection is automatically cleared, keeping your chart clean and focused on the latest setup.
