Markets spend a significant amount of time consolidating before making their next move. Advanced Range Trader is built to find those structures, monitor the breakout, filter the opportunity, and trade it automatically.
Advanced Range Trader is a feature-rich MT5 Expert Advisor designed around one of the most recognizable forms of price action: consolidation, range breakout and retest.
Rather than simply taking the highest and lowest price over a fixed number of candles, the EA uses structured price-action analysis to identify meaningful market ranges. Once a qualifying range is detected, Advanced Range Trader monitors its boundaries and waits for the conditions you have selected before executing a trade.
The result is not simply a breakout robot. It is a complete range detection, confirmation, execution and trade-management system.
🔥 Why Advanced Range Trader?
Many automated range strategies rely on simple fixed lookback periods, basic support/resistance levels or mechanical high/low calculations.
Advanced Range Trader takes a more sophisticated approach.
It is designed to recognize consolidation structures from the way price actually develops, allowing the EA to identify and track meaningful range boundaries before evaluating what happens when price eventually breaks out.
From there, you decide how much confirmation is required.
Want a straightforward range-breakout system?
You can configure it that way.
Prefer to wait for the breakout and trade the retest?
You can do that too.
Want the breakout confirmed by Moving Averages, higher-timeframe trend alignment and Supply & Demand conditions?
Advanced Range Trader gives you the tools to build a much more selective strategy.
⭐ Advanced Price-Action Range Detection
At the heart of the EA is its Advanced Range Scanner.
The scanner searches the market for qualifying consolidation structures and establishes the upper and lower boundaries of the detected range.
The EA can then continuously monitor that structure until price produces a qualifying breakout or the range is no longer valid.
Users can adjust the strength and selectivity of range detection, making it possible to experiment with anything from more frequent range identification to stricter, higher-quality structural requirements.
This provides a more flexible foundation than simply defining a range as the highest high and lowest low of an arbitrary fixed period.
🚀 Automated Breakout Trading
Once a valid range is established, Advanced Range Trader can automatically monitor for a breakout.
The EA supports both:
Bullish Range Breakouts
and
Bearish Range Breakouts
Breakout trading can be independently enabled or disabled.
The EA can also limit the acceptable distance price is allowed to travel beyond the range before an entry becomes too extended.
This helps prevent the system from blindly chasing price after a large move has already occurred.
🎯 Break-and-Retest Trading
Not every trader wants to enter immediately after a breakout.
Advanced Range Trader can also wait for price to return to the broken range boundary before executing a trade.
After a bullish breakout, the former range resistance can become the potential retest level.
After a bearish breakout, the former range support can become the potential retest level.
The EA tracks this process automatically.
You can therefore configure the system to trade:
Breakouts Only
Retests Only
or
Breakouts + Retests
This makes it possible to test very different approaches using the same underlying range-detection engine.
📊 Single-Timeframe or Multi-Timeframe Range Scanning
Advanced Range Trader is not restricted to scanning only one timeframe.
In Single-Timeframe Mode, the EA analyzes the current chart timeframe.
In Multi-Timeframe Mode, multiple selected timeframes can be monitored independently.
For example:
M15 + H1 + H4 + D1
An H1 range can generate its own trading opportunity while an H4 or D1 range can independently produce another setup.
This allows one instance of the EA to monitor different market perspectives without requiring every timeframe to produce the same range at the same moment.
📈 Multi-Timeframe Moving Average Correlation
Range breakouts do not occur in isolation from the broader market trend.
Advanced Range Trader therefore includes a powerful Multi-Timeframe Moving Average Correlation Filter.
Instead of checking the Moving Average on only the trading timeframe, the EA can require directional agreement across multiple selected timeframes.
Examples include combinations such as:
M15 + H1
H1 + H4
H4 + D1
H1 + D1 + W1
H4 + D1 + W1
H1 + H4 + D1 + W1
M15 + H1 + H4 + D1 + W1
and many additional combinations involving:
M1 • M5 • M15 • H1 • H4 • D1 • W1
The more timeframes included, the more selective the confirmation can become.
This allows traders to experiment with concepts such as taking lower-timeframe range opportunities only when they agree with a much broader market direction.
📉 Flexible Moving Average Filters
In addition to Multi-Timeframe MA Correlation, Advanced Range Trader provides Moving Average filters that can be applied to important stages of the setup.
The EA can use Moving Average positioning when evaluating the range itself and/or when confirming the breakout.
This gives users the flexibility to determine whether Moving Average confirmation should influence:
Range Formation
Breakout Confirmation
or both.
The filters can also be disabled completely for users who prefer a predominantly price-action-based strategy.
🧠 Build the Strategy You Want
One of the major strengths of Advanced Range Trader is that its filters are not forced into one rigid trading system.
You decide how much confirmation you want.
A simple configuration might use:
Range → Breakout → Trade
A more selective configuration could use:
Range → Breakout → MA Confirmation → Trade
An even stricter configuration could require:
Range → Breakout → MA Filter → Multi-Timeframe MA Correlation → Trade
Or you can wait for:
Range → Breakout → Retest → Confirmation → Trade
This flexibility allows Advanced Range Trader to function as more than a single fixed strategy.
It provides a framework for building and testing different range-based trading approaches.
💰 Three Money Management Modes
Advanced Range Trader provides three position-sizing methods.
Fixed Lot Size
Use the same selected lot size for qualifying trades.
Risk Percentage
Specify the percentage of your account you want to risk, and the EA calculates the appropriate trade size according to the entry and initial Stop Loss distance.
Fixed Monetary Risk
Specify exactly how much account currency you want to risk on a trade.
For example, if Fixed Risk is set to 100, the EA calculates the position size required to target approximately 100 units of account currency at risk at the initial Stop Loss, subject to broker trading conditions.
This allows users to choose the money-management approach that best suits their trading plan.
🛡️ Structure-Based Stop Loss
Advanced Range Trader uses the detected market structure when determining the initial protective Stop Loss.
Because every range is different, Stop Loss distance can naturally adapt to the structure being traded rather than relying exclusively on an arbitrary fixed number of points.
When Risk Percentage or Fixed Monetary Risk position sizing is selected, the EA automatically adjusts the position size according to that risk distance.
🎯 R-Based Profit Targets
Trade management can be configured around the original risk of each setup.
If the distance from entry to initial Stop Loss represents 1R, profit objectives can be expressed as multiples of that risk.
Available settings allow users to work with targets ranging from smaller fractions of R to significantly larger reward multiples.
This makes the trade-management system adaptable to different styles—from higher-frequency, smaller-target approaches to strategies seeking larger reward-to-risk opportunities.
🔒 Automatic Breakeven
Protect profitable trades automatically with the built-in Breakeven system.
You choose when Breakeven should activate using an R-based trigger.
For example:
Breakeven Trigger = 1R
Once the trade reaches the required profit level, the EA can automatically move the protective Stop Loss toward the original entry.
A configurable Breakeven Buffer can also move the Stop Loss slightly beyond the entry price.
📈 R-Based Trailing Stop
Want to let profitable trades continue running?
Advanced Range Trader includes an R-based Trailing Stop.
You can independently control:
Trailing Start – when trailing begins.
Trailing Distance – how far behind current price the protective Stop Loss follows.
Because these values are based on the trade's original risk, trailing behavior automatically adapts to different range sizes and Stop Loss distances.
✂️ Automatic Partial Close
The EA can automatically secure part of a position when a selected profit level is reached.
Choose:
Partial Close Trigger
and
Partial Close Percentage
For example:
Trigger = 1R
Close = 50%
The EA can close part of the position at the selected level while allowing the remainder to continue toward its final objective.
Partial Close can be combined with Breakeven and Trailing Stop management.
⚙️ Advanced Position Management
The EA remembers the original trade-risk structure when managing positions.
This is important because once Breakeven or Trailing Stop begins modifying the Stop Loss, the original risk remains the reference point for R-based trade management.
This keeps Breakeven, trailing and partial-close calculations consistent with the trade's original setup.
🔢 Maximum Trade Control
Multi-timeframe scanning can sometimes identify several valid opportunities.
Advanced Range Trader therefore allows users to limit the maximum number of permitted trade entries.
This provides an additional layer of exposure control, particularly when several scanning timeframes are active simultaneously.
Users can also independently enable or disable:
Buy Trades
and
Sell Trades
making Buy-only, Sell-only or two-directional strategies possible.
⏰ Trading Time Filter
Not every trader wants an automated system operating throughout the entire trading day.
The optional Time Filter allows trading activity to be restricted to selected periods.
This can be useful for focusing the strategy on preferred sessions or avoiding periods that do not fit your trading approach.
🖥️ Visual Range Scanner
Advanced Range Trader can display detected ranges directly on the chart, allowing you to visually follow the structures the EA is monitoring.
The scanner panel can also provide useful information about current range conditions, monitored timeframes, breakout status, retest status and other relevant market information.
This makes the EA useful not only for automation but also for understanding how the range-detection system is interpreting current price action.
🔔 Stay Informed
Advanced Range Trader supports multiple notification options, including:
- MetaTrader popup alerts
- Push notifications
- Email alerts
When correctly configured in MetaTrader 5, these features can help you stay informed about important scanner events even when you are away from the trading terminal.
🌍 Built for Different Markets and Trading Styles
The underlying approach is based primarily on price structure rather than being tied to only one instrument.
This makes Advanced Range Trader suitable for testing across markets such as:
Forex • Gold & Commodities • Indices • Cryptocurrencies • Stocks • Synthetic Instruments and more
Market behavior, spreads and trading conditions vary considerably between instruments, so users should always backtest and optimize settings for their chosen market.
