Gold Trend Master H4

Gold Trend Master H4 is a trend-following Expert Advisor for XAUUSD (Gold) on the H4 timeframe, developed by AutoProfit FX. It identifies trend continuation and breakout opportunities in gold using a dual-setup engine with strict risk management. It does not use martingale, grid, or averaging methods, and every trade carries a stop loss.

How it works

The EA combines two complementary entry approaches into a single decision engine. The first is a pullback entry, which looks for entries when price retraces to a key moving average during an established uptrend. The second is a breakout entry, which captures momentum when price breaks recent structural highs in trending conditions.

Both approaches are filtered by a daily trend regime filter for long-term direction, a 200-period moving average slope filter for regime detection, a volatility filter based on ATR, a strength filter based on ADX, and a session timing filter that avoids low-quality market hours.

Risk management

Position management is sequential. The stop is first moved to breakeven at 1.5x ATR, followed by an ATR-based trailing stop at 3x ATR. Position sizing is volatility-targeted using ATR, with tick-value calculations for accurate sizing across brokers. A monthly loss limit acts as a circuit breaker to protect capital during adverse periods. The EA is long-only by default, aligned with the structural bias in gold, and this is configurable.

Backtest results

Backtested on XAUUSD H4 from January 2018 to May 2026, with a starting balance of 10,000 USD on real tick data:

Maximum Drawdown: 20.97%

Recovery Factor: 7.39

Total Trades: 339

Average Win/Loss Ratio: 1.91
