Discussion of article "MetaTrader 5 - More Than You Can Imagine!" - page 2

ALEX_SPB_RU:

Well done, of course, but it is a pity that you do not listen to the opinion of users in some fundamental issues.

There are no locks and there won't be any :)

Loks are not and will not be :)

Loks are and will be! 8-))

Correctly understood. But I don't need locks, but I want to work with several Expert Advisors + manuals without unnecessary fiddling on one pair! (This is a hackneyed topic, I don't want to develop it).

By the way, why does my chart settings window look like this?

And you have this screenshot in the help:

Terminal version 642 from Alpari.

P.S. There is a typo in point 1.2, second paragraph" The speed of chart opening increases: charting any period of minute bars takes seconds.

Sometimes the help comes before the release, so there are discrepancies. The new release of MT5 with a huge list of improvements will be released next week.

The typo will be corrected, thank you.

Renat, you should do like before. Release builds more often. We are waiting for builds to move forward. And now it turns out that you have not given us fixes for a month and a half!!! And they have already accumulated a lot. And the work stands ...

Please do as before - build not less than in 10-14 days.

You said that will be released on Monday, and again ... delay.

A lot of time has been spent on MetaTrader 4, including its mobile versions.

Our plan is to release MT5 builds once a month so as not to make clients nervous.

There's no way to not be nervous!

If you procrastinate on releasing a build with fixed bugs, it will also make you nervous. Maybe even more. Because there are bugs that you have been looking at for a month.

There is no worse situation when there are bugs found, servicedesk wrote that they were fixed, and I'm sitting here for a month waiting for a new build. I'm very nervous.

Perhaps you should use not the time factor when releasing a build, but the amount of fixed code.

We, I mean me, are waiting too. I support the request to release builds more often.

Of course, a lot has been done, but this article is still not objective. Therefore, for the sake of objectivity, I will give only one (and there are many) strong and reasonable argument not in favour of MT5 when comparing it with MT4:

In MT4 you can fully use custom history (with all due respect, CustomChart is a crutch), up to tick history, using it in the tester (with real variable spread) of MT4.

The importance of this feature has been discussed many times, however, a practical detailed justification is available on another resource, where MT4 tester's stats and settings are given in detail when using different histories (including real tick history) and then compared with the results of the Expert Advisor's work in real trading. Briefly, the comparison is far from favouring simulated ticks.

P.S. Of course, defenders of MT5 will say that the tester of 5 is more perfect. I agree with that. However, custom history is still lacking.

P.P.S. Since the developers have a good quality to change their minds, I propose to introduce the possibility to set a custom history (up to tick history) in the same MT5 tester, while disabling the multicurrency mode (so as not to create crutches). In such a mode write in beautiful red letters that it is a custom mode. There is a mathematical mode... For example, when testing, for example, on EURUSD with USD deposit currency, only EURUSD modelled ticks are used now in MT5-tester, so why not give the possibility to replace them with your own ticks, as it is done via FXT-file in MT4?

Well, there's a new addition to our ranks. I'm glad. It's a pity it takes three years to get a promise. In our case it's even worse, not that they don't promise... but they've been resisting this https://www.mql5.com/ru/forum/1031/page2 posts for more than 2 years.

H.Y. Probably it will happen, but not in my lifetime .....

Those who really need it would have written their own calculators long ago - a matter of one/two days. Personally, I don't see any reasons to use MT5 for trading. I am attracted only by the possibilities of mathematical calculations. However, I am in favour of improving the platform.

I believe that the platform's shortcomings are the developers' problems, not the algo-traders' problems. Algo-traders are able to solve all trading problems on their own without using trading platforms. After all, platforms are only a trading API for an algo-trader, nothing more.
