:)) Lana. I'm just teasing. I don't mean it badly.
By the way, the FFT applies to a periodic function
But the FFT for a non-periodic function is very different and is described differently in different books

That's an obscene use of words.
You're using obscene words.
PF - Fourier transform
FFT - fast Fourier transform
So far we're only talking about the direct FFT.
Sine waves. A repetition of what has been passed.
went wrong.
I read the forum during the week and your comments were also found in those threads ( 2007-2009)
We applied an FFT and the signal is non-periodic.
After reverse PF we got edge effects, because we forgot about the phase, i.e. we had to shift the sine/cosine oscillators relative to each other a bit. We applied a PF using the formulas imposed on the periodic signal
have gone wrong.
I've read the forum and I've seen your comments in those threads too
I realise I'm a retrograde, but why would you need to interpolate by a Fourier polynomial to extrapolate something outside the process period? You get the same thing that was inside the period.

T period is infinity for a non-periodic function, that's the main point
i.e. there is no observation window (or rather the whole history), and the spectrum is quite different
and since 1/T tends to zero, we have just one significant harmonic in essence.
period infinity for a non-periodic function, that's the main point
i.e. there is no observation window and the spectrum is completely different
It's not good at all.
This is not good at all.
Alexei, you are exaggerating
It is just the opposite and by the way, the PF formulas are different in this case
Alexei, you are exaggerating.
It is just the other way round.
Extrapolation cannot be implemented by interpolation.
