OK, an assumption. Especially as the degree of "strength" is not specified.

Choosing a CPU for Gamers: Oct 2009

I've already chosen))

I'll try to summarise my findings...

Thank you for your work.

That the performance is determined by the cache seems to me to be true. After all it is very difficult to load a modern processor (Core itself) to 100% - everything rests on speed of delivery of data and instructions for it. That's actually why the cache was invented first as an external one (I think, since 386 - I remember, I had sims next to each other - it was flying for those times) and then as an internal one.

In general, predicting the development of integration, it is assumed that the size of memory placed on the chip of the CPU will only grow. I.e. the uncore will become an order of magnitude larger entity than the core itself. Perhaps the cache in an SoC (system on a rock) will be reborn as a self-sufficient RAM with cache speed.

All this looks great and tempting, but so far there are no competitors for nechalem and its derivatives. The new i5s look very strong considering the price. I'll probably go for the new older I7 though. Numbers of PCI channels has little effect - I don't see the point in overpaying for the 3rd in i7 9xx. And number of PCI-X lanes is good enough for me.

The Core i5-750 system is slightly faster than the LGA775-Q9550 according to tests on ixbt.com. For the money, motherboards are still expensive, you can wait for cheaper options to come out.

And if you have the money, go for the Core i7-975 or i7-870 which are the fastest options.

chv, please have a look in this thread. I invited you there when I made it (see my first post in the thread), and I'm still waiting. Thank you.

Thanks. I was just aiming for the i7-760 or the 780. The top model (780) it's um... well, let's just say its parameters are easy to achieve on the not top model with a slight overclock, but it costs disproportionately. Remember the stories with 9xx series? )))

AMD Athlon II X4 or Phenom II: Impact of L3 cache on performance

Yes, I also read the hammer).

In general, the results are interesting, though I think that EXACTLY for our case cache is nearly the most important... Plus bus and memory purity is unlikely (I've got 3 Hz and no good).

Though under the price atlons X4 tempting, well already better at once to take Phenom II X3 will leave all the same cheaply and serdito (3900 for 2.8) and serdito (6 Mb of CACHE and other pleasures in the form of DDR3) yes and motherboard about 2000

I don't get it...
