I had a client who had bonds - Eurobonds, I had to sort them out. The repo rates are high now and the issuers are in default like Greece (http://www.rusbonds.ru/def.asp).... It makes sense to deposit money with a broker abroad - the rates there are low, but the risk of losing money due to geopolitical events is not small either.
