Hi traderduke,

1. I am not sure. May be - not.

5 digit version - yes.

2. Yes, of course. On both sides: on lossing and on profit as percentages from deposit. With adjustable pausing period (number of the hours).

3. SRSI (RSI) settings is the better one.

I mean: RSI trading settings is more profitable and more stable one than Alpha9 trading settings.

It does not depend on the version. It is the settings only (SRSI, PET and so on).

4. Alpha dll is the best version and it is the latest one (Alpha9v1.21 EA). For all the versions - use this post:

Ecn

Newdigital & Mladen

This EA looks awesome. Many thanks for all your help. I have a few questions:

1. Is there any ECN version out there?? If not can you create one??

2. as in Firebird can you stop new positions and let the EA close all remaining positions by itself?

3. Does the PET 1% you are refering to work better in any one Version?

4.There seems to be many versions, is the newest the best or do they have individual areas of expertience?

5. My backtesting is entering "SELL" positions. I changed the Sell_Enabled to False to force a buy but instead got NO Positions, I'm using Malens post # 924 version, what an I missing??

Thanks again for all your help

Ray

Could you elaborate on #2, in Firebird I adjust the time from end = 24 to 0 for all days and let it run its course. I'm not clear on your answer to get Alpha to not take anymore positions and just let the active postions run out with the program guidence of course.

Are you talking about timefilter?

Time filter is useless in this EA as few trades can be opened 1 week ago and still opened. It is H1 timeframe talking the direction using M5, M15, M30, H1, and H4 (and D1, W1 and MN1 - optional) so this EA is not oipenning the trades often (not in every day). Some pairs are not traded for 7 days so this hours' timefilter is useless.

--------------

It is long explanation by few pages which were written by author and so on. So, just go to this post https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/176044/page2 and follow to the links.

To make it shorter: you estimated some percentages for losing and for floating profit by equity on open trades and if the equity is going up or down to some balance percentages - all the trades will be closed (with loss or profit) and EA is not traded for some period of time (adjusted in the settings) after that.

For example:

AccountEquityPercentProtection=90; // percent of the account Equity left to activate a hard stop loss on a set of trades.

EquityTrailing = True; // To enable a equity trail, it will close all orders when equity show profit

PercentEquityTrailing = 1; // Percent of profit to start the closure off all the orders.

HoursToRestart = 96; // Hours need to restart after a Equity Stop Trigger.

But it happened may be ... 1 or 2 times in a 3 months.

Basicly - when market is reversed to any side (as it is MTF EA).

Worst Account Drawdown (I am trading 18 pairs simultaniously on this account H1 timeframe), SYMBOL Total Profit is the profit for the trade opened right now, if equity will come down to 45,912 so all open trades will be closed (with loss) to protect the money on the account, same with profit.

It is written on the chart when you are trading:

And look at the following: when the trades were opened (date) and when they were closed (date):

So, timefilter (something as "do not trade between 15 - 18) is useless in case of this type of EA (MTF EA).

I'm backtesting Alpha in order to get a feel for it. I notice that it's very profitable on some pairs like the EURUSD, but on USDJPY it loses money like crazy. I've read the entire thread, and I can find no settings which make USDJPY profitable.

Is this not a recommended pair, or is something wrong here?

Alpha is multi timeframe EA (MTF EA using many timeframes for the direction of the trend). So, any backtesting can not be reliable.

Besides, the account/deposit protection feature was coded for whole the account. It means: you are trading many pairs for this protection. In this case - if one pair is losing so some other pairs are winning and the profit is calculated as totally for the account.

because the main problems for any MTF EA is that ... if the price changes the direction of the trend so this pair will lose. So, that is why the authior suggested to trade many pairs simultaniuously.

More about risk to use MTF EA - this thread:
