Gold Scalper Pro is a fully automated Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5, built for scalping XAUUSD (Gold) on the M15 timeframe. It trades only in the direction of the higher-timeframe trend, enters on confirmed price action, and manages every position with a fixed stop loss, partial profit-taking and breakeven.
Every trade has a defined stop loss and take profit. The EA does not use martingale, grid, averaging down or hedging.
How it works
1. Trend filter (H4)
The EA reads the trend on a higher timeframe using the 13 and 50 EMA. It buys only in a confirmed uptrend and sells only in a confirmed downtrend. When there is no clear trend, it stays out of the market.
2. Entry signals (M15)
Two setups are traded:
- EMA Pullback: price pulls back to the fast EMA and closes back in the trend direction.
- Breakout: price breaks the recent swing high or low with momentum.
Each signal must be supported by one of these candle patterns: strong-body candle, pin bar (long rejection wick) or engulfing candle.
3. Quality filters (all adjustable)
- ADX filter to trade only when the market is trending
- VWAP filter to trade on the correct side of the volume-weighted price
- Volume filter to require above-average activity
- Confirmation candle filter to avoid weak entries
4. Stop loss and take profit
- Stop loss is placed beyond the recent swing, with a buffer, and limited by a minimum and maximum distance
- Take profit is set by a fixed Reward:Risk ratio (default 1:2)
5. Position management
- Partial take profit: closes part of the position (default 50%) at 1R
- Breakeven: after the partial close, the stop loss moves to breakeven plus a small buffer at 1.5R
- The breakeven step always comes after the partial close, so a trade is not stopped out at zero before profit is locked in
6. Capital protection
- Risk-based lot sizing: default 0.5% of balance per trade (or use a fixed lot)
- Margin check: the lot size is reduced to fit the free margin, and the trade is skipped if it cannot be opened safely
- Daily loss limit: trading stops for the day when the loss reaches your limit (default 3%)
- Cooldown: after consecutive losses, the EA pauses for a set time (default 2 losses, 30 minutes)
- Session control: Asia, London and New York sessions, with a maximum of 1 trade per session and 1 open position
- Market hours check: the EA does not send orders while the market is closed, and respects the broker’s stop level and freeze level

Risk and stop loss: lot mode (risk percent or fixed lot), risk percent, fixed lot, Reward:Risk, swing bars, stop loss buffer, minimum and maximum stop loss in points, magic number
Sessions (broker server time): start and end hour of the Asia, London and New York sessions, trades per session, maximum open positions

Important notes
- Session hours use your broker’s server time. Please adjust them if your server time offset is different.
- The point values for stop loss are based on gold’s 2-digit pricing. On brokers with different digits, check the values before use.
- Results depend on broker conditions such as spread, slippage and execution speed.
- Past results and backtests do not guarantee future performance. Trading leveraged products involves a high risk of loss.
FAQ
Q: Which symbol and timeframe should I use?
A: Gold Scalper Pro is designed for XAUUSD (Gold). Attach it to an XAUUSD chart. The chart timeframe does not matter, because the EA uses its own fixed timeframes internally: H4 for the trend and M15 for entries.
Q: What is the minimum deposit?
A: We recommend $500 or more. The EA calculates lot size from your balance and stop loss, and it checks your free margin before every trade. On very small accounts, the broker’s minimum lot for gold can use more margin than the account has. In that case the EA skips the trade instead of sending an order that would fail.
Q: Does it use martingale, grid or averaging?
A: No. The EA opens at most one position at a time by default. Every trade has a stop loss and a take profit, and the lot size is never increased after a loss.
Q: How many trades does it make?
A: The EA is selective. By default it takes a maximum of one trade per session (Asia, London and New York) and holds one open position at a time. You will often see days with no trades, because all the filters (H4 trend, ADX, VWAP, volume and candle confirmation) must agree.
Q: Why did the EA not open any trade today?
A: This is normal in many market conditions. Common reasons are:
- There is no clear H4 trend
- ADX is below the minimum value (market is ranging)
- The session limit has been reached
- The daily loss limit or the cooldown is active
- The current time is outside the session hours
- Algo trading is disabled, or the market is closed
Check the Experts tab for messages, and make sure the Algo Trading button is on.
Q: Which time zone do the sessions use?
A: Your broker’s server time, not GMT. Open Market Watch and check the server time, then adjust the session hour inputs if you want different trading windows.
Q: How is the lot size calculated?
A: By default the EA risks 0.5% of your balance per trade, based on the stop loss distance. You can change the risk percent, or switch to a fixed lot. If the calculated lot is smaller than the broker’s minimum, the minimum lot is used, so the real risk can be higher on small accounts. If the free margin is not enough, the lot is reduced or the trade is skipped.
Q: How does the partial take profit and breakeven work?
A: When the trade reaches 1R (profit equal to the stop loss distance), the EA closes 50% of the position. When the trade reaches 1.5R, the stop loss moves to breakeven plus a small buffer. Breakeven always comes after the partial close. If the position is too small to split (for example, at the minimum lot), the partial close is skipped and only the breakeven applies.
Q: Does it work on hedging and netting accounts?
A: Yes. The EA has been validated on a netting account and works on hedging accounts as well.
Q: Can I use it on other symbols, such as EURUSD or indices?
A: The default settings are tuned for Gold. The stop loss and buffer inputs are set in points, so on other symbols they must be adjusted first. Please test on a demo account before using it on anything other than XAUUSD.
Q: My broker has 3-digit gold prices. Do I need to change anything?
A: Most brokers quote gold with 2 digits, and the default stop loss values are set for that. If your broker uses 3 digits, one point is smaller, so multiply the stop loss, buffer and breakeven inputs by 10 to get the same distance.
Q: Does it have a news filter or spread filter?
A: No. The EA does not stop trading around news events and has no spread limit. We recommend an account with low spreads. If you want to avoid high-impact news, you can switch the EA off manually or limit the session hours.
Q: Is there a daily loss limit? Can I use it on a prop firm account?
A: The EA has a built-in daily loss limit (default 3% of the day’s starting balance, measured on equity) and a cooldown after consecutive losses. Because every prop firm has its own rules (daily drawdown, news restrictions, minimum trading days), please check your firm’s rules and set the inputs yourself. The EA does not guarantee that a challenge will be passed.
Q: What does the “Manual trades” option do?
A: When it is on, the EA adds a stop loss and take profit to positions opened by hand (or by another EA) on the same symbol if they have none. If you do not want the EA to touch other trades, set ManualMgmt to false.
Q: Do I need a VPS?
A: It is recommended. The EA must be running during the session hours, and a VPS keeps it online without interruptions. Any stable 24/5 connection works.
Q: How should I test it?
A: Run the Strategy Tester with “Every tick based on real ticks” and use your own broker’s data. Results can differ between brokers, so test on a demo account for a few weeks before using real money.
Q: Can I change the settings or use set files?
A: Yes. All the main parameters are available in the Inputs tab and are described in the product description. The default settings work as they are, so you can attach the EA and start.
Q: Does the EA guarantee profit?
A: No. No trading system can guarantee profit. Backtest and demo results do not guarantee future performance, and trading leveraged products involves a high risk of loss. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
Q: How do I get support or updates?
A: Send me a private message on MQL5 or leave a comment on the product page. Updates are free for buyers and appear in your MetaTrader terminal under the Market tab.
