GOLD SNIPER — Trend-Following Breakout EA for Gold

A turtle-style breakout trader: it waits for a break of the 20-bar H4 extreme in the direction of the trend (EMA-100 filter) and takes rare, precise trades — 4–8 per month on average. Every trade carries a hard 3xATR stop from the first second; an ATR trailing stop then lets profits run as long as the trend lives. Trades 24/5; the H4 working timeframe is hard-coded, so the chart timeframe does not matter.
Key points
— One series at a time, no grid. Aggressive profiles add only to a winning position (max +3), tightening the stops of the whole series with each add.
— Series profit lock: once floating profit exceeds 5% of equity, the EA tracks its peak and closes the series if 40% of that peak is given back.
— Stop, trail and pyramid step are measured in ATR — the EA adapts to gold volatility.
— Circuit breaker: at 35% drawdown from the equity peak the EA halts until the next day.
— Branded on-chart panel (live status, distance to breakout, series P/L, lock state) and the Donchian hunting channel drawn on the chart. Everything can be disabled.
Backtest results (real ticks, 555 ms latency, 01.2023–08.2026, $1000)
— Aggressive (default): x7.6, max drawdown 37.2%, every year profitable.
— Standard set: x3.4, Profit Factor 1.77, max drawdown 31.5%.
— Conservative set: x2.9, max drawdown 26%. Set files included.
Setup: open an XAUUSD chart (any timeframe), drag the EA on, enable Algo Trading. Defaults = the Aggressive profile; prefer calmer trading — load the Standard or Conservative set. Deposit from $1000, $3000+ recommended, hedging account. A VPS is recommended. Run the first 2–4 weeks on a demo account.
Warnings
— This EA is for patient traders: 4–8 trades per month. It can stay flat for weeks — TRACKING on the panel is normal, not a malfunction.
— Drawdowns are part of trend following: the default profile showed up to 37% from peak in testing.
— Below ~$3000 the real risk is higher than declared: the 0.01 minimum lot exceeds what the risk formula asks for. The EA prints a warning on start.
— Backtest results are obtained on historical data and do not guarantee future returns. Never trade money you cannot afford to lose.
