What is Vortex?
Vortex v5 is a fully automated portfolio Expert Advisor that manages up to 12 currency pairs from a single chart. Each pair is assigned its own strategy — Bollinger Bands + RSI for ranging markets, or Ichimoku Tenkan-Kijun for trending markets — giving you a diversified, multi-strategy portfolio in one EA.
Key Features
Dual-Strategy Engine
- BB+RSI (Mean-Reversion): Enters when price touches the outer Bollinger Band with RSI confirmation in oversold/overbought territory. Best for pairs that range.
- Ichimoku TK (Trend): Enters on Tenkan/Kijun crosses confirmed by cloud position. Best for pairs that trend.
- You choose which strategy to assign to each pair — full control over your portfolio mix.
Risk Management — Multiple Layers
- ATR-based stop-loss and take-profit sizing — adapts to current volatility.
- Per-trade risk percentage with an absolute cap.
- Daily loss limit — stops trading when the day's loss exceeds your threshold.
- Global drawdown circuit breaker — pauses all trading when account DD exceeds your limit, with automatic cooldown and reset.
- Correlation limiter — prevents overexposure to correlated currencies.
Grid Recovery Mode (Optional)
- When enabled, losing positions are managed with an averaging grid — up to N levels per pair with configurable spacing and lot scaling.
- Hard-stop and time-stop safeguards prevent baskets from running indefinitely.
- Basket-level trailing locks in profits once the grid recovers.
Post-Loss Recovery
- After a losing trade, the next entry uses a slightly larger lot (configurable multiplier) to recover the loss faster, with a hard cap to prevent excessive sizing.
Trailing Stops
- Per-trade trailing: activates at N × ATR profit, trails at N × ATR behind price.
- Basket trailing: activates when basket profit reaches a % of balance, locks in a % of peak profit.
News Filter
- Built-in MQL5 economic calendar integration.
- Blocks entries around high/medium/low-impact events (configurable).
- Currency-aware — only blocks if the news currency matches the pair being traded.
Time Filters
- Skip Friday close and Sunday open to avoid weekend gaps and thin liquidity.
- Configurable cutoff hours.
Real-Time Dashboard
- Premium on-chart dashboard showing balance, equity, P&L, drawdown, win rate, and active trade count.
- Pair table with per-pair breakdown: strategy (TK/BB), win rate, W/L count, P&L, trade status, and news flag.
- Fully customizable colors, position, and width.
- Can be disabled for VPS performance.
Diagnostics
- CSV trade export for external analysis.
- Verbose logging mode for debugging.
- Per-pair statistics tracked in real time.
How to Set Up
- Attach to any chart — the EA trades all configured pairs regardless of chart symbol.
- Enter your pairs in the Pair 1–12 fields (broker suffix is auto-detected).
- Assign strategies — type BB or ICHI for each pair, comma-separated.
- Adjust risk — set your risk %, daily loss limit, and max drawdown.
- Enable/disable modules — grid recovery, trailing, news filter, etc.
- That's it — Vortex handles everything else.
Recommended Settings
- Timeframe: H4 (the EA was optimized on H4)
- Minimum deposit: $1,000 (recommended $3,000+ for grid recovery mode)
- Account type: Hedge (required for grid recovery mode)
- Broker: Any MT5 broker with standard forex pairs. ECN/Raw spread recommended.
- VPS: Recommended for 24/5 operation.
Input Parameters
The EA has 60+ fully documented input parameters organized into logical groups. Every parameter shows a description in the Inputs tab explaining its purpose and valid range. Invalid inputs are caught at startup with a clear Alert message.
Backtesting Notes
- Use "Every tick based on real ticks" or "Every tick" mode for accurate results.
- Multi-pair EAs should be tested with all symbols loaded in Market Watch.
- Enable "Use date" to test specific periods.
- The news filter requires calendar data, which may not be available in the tester on all brokers.

Past performance in backtesting does not guarantee future results. Always test on a demo account before going live. Grid recovery and post-loss recovery features involve increased lot sizes and carry higher risk. Adjust the global drawdown limit and grid hard-stop to match your risk tolerance.
