Gold grid robot (grid, not martingale) with eight independent strategies and a hard loss limit on every basket.
Aphrodite trades gold (XAUUSD) on the M15 chart. Each of its eight strategies opens a basket of trades in its own time window and adds positions while the price moves against it. A basket closes at its profit target or at the basket stop, a loss limit set as a percentage of the balance.
Aphrodite is a grid robot, and it behaves like one. It can hold several losing positions at the same time, and a basket that reaches its stop takes a large loss in one go. What it does not do is multiply the lot to win back a loss. Three things cap the damage a basket can do:
- Every position in a basket uses the same lot as the first one.
- Each basket has a maximum number of positions.
- The basket stop closes the whole basket at a set percentage of the balance.
Aphrodite manages the basket stop and the profit target itself. Positions are opened without a stop loss or take profit at the broker, so the terminal must stay on and connected. If MetaTrader is closed or loses its connection, open baskets have no stop until it is back.
Please read the drawdown figures further down before you use it.
Risk profiles
You choose the profile in the settings. All three come with the same product.
- Standard (default): basket stop at 20% of the balance, up to 7 positions per basket.
- Ballerina (aggressive): basket stop at 50% of the balance, up to 11 positions per basket. It made more profit in the backtest, and its drawdown was almost twice as deep.
- Custom: you set the basket stop (% of the balance) and the maximum number of positions per basket. A basket stop of 0 turns the stop off and removes the loss limit, which is not recommended.
Each profile uses its own magic number unless you set one. You can also switch any of the eight strategies on or off.
Filters
- No new baskets on US Federal Reserve (FOMC) decision days. The dates are built in up to January 2028, and you can add more in the settings.
- No new baskets on the first Friday of the month (US jobs report).
- No new baskets late on Friday.
- A year-end pause, from mid-December to mid-January by default.
- A maximum spread limit.
You can switch off or adjust each filter.
Lot size
The lot grows with the account. By default Aphrodite opens 0.01 lot for every $600 of balance, with a minimum of 0.01. Both values can be changed. Profits compound this way, and so do losses.
Who it is for
- Traders who want an automated gold robot and accept the risk of a grid.
- Traders who want to pick their own risk level, with a ready profile or their own values.
Who it is not for
- Anyone who cannot accept a drawdown of 29% (Standard) or 55% (Ballerina). Those are the worst drawdowns in the backtest, and a future one can be deeper.
- Prop firm challenges or any account with a small daily loss limit. A single basket stop can be larger than that limit.
- Netting accounts, and symbols other than gold.
Quick start
1. Open an XAUUSD chart on M15 in a hedging account.
2. Attach Aphrodite to the chart.
3. Choose the risk profile and leave the rest at the defaults.
4. Turn on Algo Trading in MetaTrader 5.
5. Keep the terminal running, ideally on a VPS.
Before a backtest, set your broker's GMT offset and daylight saving rule in the "Broker time" group. In live trading Aphrodite measures the broker's time by itself.
Specifications

- Symbol and timeframe: XAUUSD, M15
- Recommended minimum balance: $1,000, the balance used in the backtests. The lot cannot go below 0.01, so with less money the risk is higher than in the tests.
- Leverage: 1:200 or higher recommended (the backtests used 1:500). With 1:20, the limit for gold for retail clients in the EU, the margin is not enough for full baskets at the default lot.
- VPS: strongly recommended. The basket stops run inside the robot, not at the broker, and the strategies trade at different times of the day.
- Broker: low spreads on gold. Aphrodite does not open or add positions while the spread is above the limit in the settings.

The price goes up by $100 after every 10 purchases.

These are backtest results, not live trading results. MT5 Strategy Tester, "Every tick based on real ticks" mode, Dukascopy tick data with 100% history quality, October 2018 to September 2026, $1,000 starting balance, 1:500 leverage.

- The basket stop was hit once, in 2023. That single basket lost 52.7% of the balance, and the year closed at -16.1% (-$1,468).

Read this before you buy
- Most of the backtest profit comes from 2024-2026, when gold moved a lot. At the end of 2023 the Standard backtest balance was about $12,300. The rest came in the last three years, helped by the growing lot.
- Because the lot grows with the balance, losses grow too. A basket stop at 20% or 50% of a large balance is a lot of money.
- In a fast market a basket can close beyond its stop. In the backtest the three Standard stops closed at 20.1%, 20.9% and 22.3% of the balance, and the Ballerina stop at 52.7%.
- A grid can lose a large part of the account. Only trade money you can afford to lose.
- Your results depend on your broker's prices, spreads and execution. Past performance is not a guarantee of future results.
