Gann Swing & Overbalance MT5 is a technical analysis indicator for MetaTrader 5 designed to build a confirmed swing structure and analyze Price and Time Overbalance according to Gann-inspired swing analysis principles.
The indicator identifies confirmed swing highs and lows, classifies market structure as HH (Higher High), HL (Higher Low), LH (Lower High) and LL (Lower Low), and compares consecutive price and time movements to highlight potential Overbalance conditions.

Swing Structure
The indicator analyzes confirmed swing highs and lows and classifies them as:
• HH — Higher High
• HL — Higher Low
• LH — Lower High
• LL — Lower Low
A bullish confirmed structure is identified when the latest confirmed swing structure consists of a Higher High and Higher Low.
A bearish confirmed structure is identified when it consists of a Lower High and Lower Low.
When the high and low structures do not confirm the same direction, the indicator displays TRANSITION.
The current provisional swing is displayed separately and is not treated as a confirmed structural pivot until the swing confirmation conditions are satisfied.
Price Overbalance
Price Overbalance compares the magnitude of the latest completed price swing with previous swings of the same direction within the configured lookback.
When the current movement exceeds the relevant previous swing magnitude, the indicator marks the condition as OB-P.
Time Overbalance
Time Overbalance performs a similar comparison using the duration of the swing measured in bars.
When the latest completed swing exceeds the relevant previous swing duration, the indicator marks the condition as OB-T.
When both conditions occur on the same confirmed swing, the chart displays OB-P/T.
Outside Bar Handling
Outside Bars can be handled using three configurable modes:
• Follow Current Swing — the Outside Bar follows the direction of the active swing.
• Count As Reversal — the Outside Bar contributes to the potential reversal count.
• Ignore Outside Bar — the Outside Bar is excluded from directional counting.
This allows the swing construction to be adapted to different analytical preferences.
Main Inputs
• Swing Bars — number of directional bars required to confirm a swing reversal.
• Outside Bar Mode — determines how Outside Bars are interpreted.
• Overbalance Lookback — number of previous comparable swings used for Overbalance analysis.
• Price Tolerance — optional tolerance applied to Price Overbalance comparisons.
• Show Pivot Arrows — enables or disables confirmed pivot arrows.
• Show Structure Labels — displays HH, HL, LH and LL labels.
• Show Overbalance — displays Price and Time Overbalance labels.
• Show Trend Panel — displays the current confirmed swing structure information.
• Show Provisional Swing — displays the current unconfirmed swing.
Indicator Buffers
The indicator provides dedicated buffers for integration with Expert Advisors and other MQL5 tools:
• Gann Swing
• Swing High
• Swing Low
• Swing Structure State
• Price Overbalance
• Time Overbalance
• Last Confirmed Pivot
This makes the indicator suitable both for discretionary chart analysis and as a building block for automated strategies.
Important
Gann Swing & Overbalance MT5 is an analytical tool. It does not predict future market movements and does not guarantee trading results. Overbalance and swing structure should be interpreted within the user's own trading methodology and risk management framework.
