How it works
At the opening of the US session, BIG CAT records the highest and lowest prices of the first 30 minutes on the XAUUSD M1 chart, forming what's called the "opening box." It then places a Buy Stop above the high and a Sell Stop below the low of that box.
Trades only trigger when price genuinely breaks one of the edges, with sufficient volume and additional internal confirmations! No false signals, no random entries.
Total simplicity — Plug & Play
All parameters are pre-set and optimized right out of the box. Drop BIG CAT on the XAUUSD M1 chart, and you're ready to go.
The only thing you need to set, and it's crucial, is the ORB opening time.
Every broker has its own server time, so set these two parameters once so the opening box lines up with 9:30 AM New York time:

Check the time in MT5's "Market Watch" — that's your server time

Work out what server time corresponds to 9:30 AM New York. Example: server at GMT+3 → US open at 4:30 PM server time → OPR start hour = 16, OPR start minute = 30 (default values)

That's it — the 30-minute box will build from 9:30 to 10:00 AM New York time
Only adjust these two values (and optionally the risk % to match your profile).
How to properly backtest BIG CAT

Open the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester

Select: symbol XAUUSD, timeframe M1, model "Every tick"

Deposit: $300 minimum, custom date range

Set OPR start hour / OPR start minute so the box lines up with 9:30 AM New York in your test data's server time

Optionally adjust the risk %, leave all other parameters at default

Click "Start"
Good to know: the news filter relies on MT5's economic calendar, which isn't available in the Strategy Tester. In backtests, the EA will therefore also trade on news days; the filter activates automatically on demo/live accounts. Also keep daylight saving time changes in mind: server time can shift depending on the period, so make sure your OPR setting still lines up with 9:30 AM New York across your whole test range.
