MelloStrength measures the strength of USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD - plus gold and silver - from the 28 major and cross pairs, and shows it on one common scale: a Z-score. A reading of +2 means the currency has moved up twice as much as it typically does over the same number of bars, so a strong JPY and a strong GBP can be compared directly.
How strength is measured
- Each currency gets a basket index: the average of its 7 pairs, with the sign turned so that a rising index means a stronger currency
- Strength = the change of that index over the lookback (default 20 bars)
- The change is divided by its typical size over the Z-score window (default 100 bars), so quiet and volatile currencies are measured on the same scale
- Gold and silver are measured against the same currency basket (XAUUSD / XAGUSD combined with the USD index)
Panel
- All currencies ranked by strength on the chart timeframe
- The same strength on up to six other timeframes (default M15, H1, H4, D1) side by side
- Colours: strong (+1, +2 and above) and weak (-1, -2 and below)
- The pairs with the widest strength gap right now, with BUY or SELL direction and the two currency readings
Chart window
- One line per currency in a separate window, with levels at +2, 0 and -2
- The two currencies of the chart symbol are drawn thicker; names at the end of each line
Broker symbols
Suffixes and prefixes such as EURUSD.s, EURUSDm, XAUUSD^ or a custom suffix are found automatically. Missing crosses are skipped; every currency is still calculated from the pairs that exist.
Light on the terminal
After the first calculation only the newest bar is updated, and the panel timeframes are refreshed every few seconds.
Alerts
Popup, push notification and email when a pair's strength gap reaches the level you set (default 3.0) on a closed bar.
For Expert Advisor developers
Buffers 0-9 = USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD, NZD, XAU, XAG strength (EMPTY_VALUE when not available). Read closed bars (shift 1). When passing inputs with iCustom, every "input group" header counts as one parameter.
Notes
- Uses the symbols of your broker; history for the other pairs is loaded automatically the first time.
- Currency strength is context for choosing and filtering pairs; it does not predict the next move and does not guarantee any result.
