Grid Survival Ruler answers one question that decides whether a grid survives: how far can price move against you before the last layer is filled, and how often has THIS pair actually moved that far?
Enter your spacing (% of price) and your maximum layers. The indicator draws the ladder on the chart, marks the last layer in red (book full), and shows the total adverse move in % and in price, plus how many average daily ATRs it represents.
Then it tests that distance against the pair's own D1 history: the share of rolling N-day windows (default 10, over 250 days) in which price moved that far against the grid direction. Verdict: comfortable, fills sometimes, fills often.
Example from the screenshots, EURGBP: 0.06% x 12 layers fills on a 0.72% move, which happened in 45% of the 10-day windows. Same pair at 0.35% x 12 needs 4.20%: 1% of windows. Same EA, same market, one input.
Inputs: spacing, maximum layers, LONG or SHORT grid, days of history, window length, ladder colours and panel corner. Works on any symbol and timeframe; the history test always reads D1.
It gives no signals, opens no orders, closes no orders and modifies nothing. It is a ruler, not a strategy, and it works with any grid EA.
Free. It is the sizing tool behind SurfBot (https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/179990), published so you can check any grid, mine included, before risking money.
Past moves do not predict future moves: a pair that never filled the book in 250 days can do it tomorrow. Use the number to size, not to feel safe.
No DLLs, no internet access, no account data: it reads price history and draws.
