Know how much road is left before you trade.
Every market travels a typical distance each day. Some days a little more, some a little less, but most days end close to their normal range. So before you enter, there's a simple question worth asking: how much of today's journey is already used up?
Chasing a breakout after the market has already covered its usual daily distance means you're betting on an unusual day. Entering while most of the road is still ahead gives your trade room to breathe.
Odometer answers that question at a glance. It measures the market's typical daily distance, tracks how far price has travelled today, and shows you exactly how much road is left in each direction, live, on your chart. It gives no trade signals. It's a decision-support tool that works alongside any strategy or indicator you already use.
Features
On your chart
- Road ends: two glowing lines mark where today would reach its typical distance, above and below. They move live as the day develops.
- Distance left: each road end is labeled with the pips remaining from the current price.
- Covered road: today's range so far is shaded, so you can see how much ground has been covered.
- Open road: the remaining room in each direction is softly highlighted.
Car-style dashboard
- Speedometer from 0% to 150% of the typical distance, with a smoothly gliding needle and green, yellow, orange and red zones.
- Rolling odometer: today's distance in pips on counter drums that roll forward as the range grows.
- Trip computer:
- the typical daily distance and today's distance,
- the pips left up and left down until each road end,
- a countdown to the end of the trading day.
- Last 7 days plus today: small bars show whether the market has been quiet or wild lately, compared with its typical distance.
- A clear status:
- Plenty of Road: under 60% used,
- Getting There: 60–90% used,
- Destination Reached: 90–120% used,
- Unusual Day: beyond the typical distance.
Smart measurement
- The typical distance is based on the last 20 trading days, excluding the most extreme days, so one news spike or holiday doesn't distort it.
- It works on any intraday timeframe, from M1 to H4.
- It works on forex, gold, indices and other symbols, with an adjustable pip size.
Alerts
- An optional alert when the market reaches 90% of its typical daily distance, by pop-up, sound or mobile push.
Fully adjustable
- Averaging period, number of excluded days, colors and dashboard position.
How traders use it
- Before entering: check whether there's enough road left in the trade's direction.
- When setting targets: keep take-profits inside the road end instead of hoping for an unusual day.
- As a filter: skip new entries in the day's direction once the destination is reached.
