HTF Candle Plus — Higher Timeframe Candles on Chart Background
HTF Candle Plus is an advanced visualization indicator for MetaTrader 5 that overlays higher timeframe candles directly onto the background of the active chart. With up to 19 independently configurable timeframe slots, an interactive button panel, and native support for 24/7 markets and session-aware candle clipping in the style of TradingView, this indicator transforms any chart into a complete multi-timeframe analysis environment.
Overview
Multi-timeframe analysis is one of the most widely used techniques among professional traders: executing on a lower timeframe while maintaining context from higher periods. HTF Candle Plus solves this challenge visually, displaying candles from any timeframe directly on the current chart — without opening additional windows or switching periods.
Key Features
19 independent timeframe slots Each of the 19 slots can be toggled on or off with a single click from the built-in on-chart button panel. Each button's state is saved automatically, so reopening the chart or restarting the platform restores the full configuration without any user intervention.
4 operating modes per slot
- OFF: the slot is disabled and consumes no resources.
- CURRENT: the slot displays candles from the chart's active timeframe, automatically adapting when the user changes the period.
- FIXED: the slot uses one of MetaTrader 5's standard timeframes (M1 through MN1).
- CUSTOM: the user freely defines the period in minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months. This enables non-native MT5 timeframes such as M45, H2, D2, D3, W2, and many others — including periods like M144 or any non-standard combination.
24/7 mode and intelligent session detection A dedicated panel button switches between two behaviors:
- 24/7 mode (continuous): candles extend uninterrupted, ideal for cryptocurrencies and markets that operate without breaks.
- Session-aware mode: the indicator automatically detects market gaps and pauses in the bar history, clipping each HTF candle precisely where the session ends — replicating TradingView's behavior. This is especially useful for forex, indices, and equities.
BX mode (box-style wicks) A dedicated button activates rectangular wick mode. Instead of drawing wicks as vertical lines, the indicator renders them as solid or semi-transparent rectangles extending between the candle body and the high or low. This provides an alternative visualization that makes price rejection zones easier to identify.
Fully customizable visual style
- Independent colors for bullish and bearish candles.
- Configurable upper and lower wick colors, with the option to inherit the body color at an adjustable tint factor.
- Fill, line width, and line style (solid, dashed, etc.) controls for both bodies and wicks.
- Wicks can be hidden entirely for a clean, body-only view.
Three interface themes The button panel adapts to three themes: Dark, Ultra Dark, and White — ensuring good visibility on any chart color scheme.
UI Scale parameter A global scale setting allows adjusting the size of all panel elements to suit different screen resolutions and pixel densities, including high-DPI and 4K monitors.
Up to 19 simultaneous visible timeframes All active slots are rendered at the same time on the chart. The user can toggle each one individually from the panel, freely combining whichever timeframes are most relevant for each trading session.
Optimized performance The indicator uses a differential update system: it only creates, modifies, or deletes chart objects that have changed since the last cycle. This minimizes the impact on platform performance even when multiple slots are active with large historical lookbacks.
State persistence The visibility states of all 19 slots, the BX mode, and the 24/7 mode are saved as platform global variables. If the indicator is reloaded, MT5 is restarted, or the same chart is opened in another session, all settings are recovered automatically.
