KD Auto SLTP and Custom Price Alerts is a trade planning and risk management indicator for MetaTrader 5. It calculates Stop Loss levels from nearby swing structure, provides multiple Take Profit methods, calculates position size according to a selected percentage of account balance, and includes up to nine user-defined price alert lines.
The indicator uses a configurable ZigZag structure engine together with an Average True Range (ATR) buffer to determine structural Stop Loss levels. Swing structure can be sourced from the current timeframe or a higher timeframe. Take Profit can be calculated from an opposing market structure target or from a fixed risk-to-reward ratio.
Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit preview lines can be repositioned directly on the chart, allowing the calculated setup to be adjusted visually. KD Auto SLTP also includes the Prop Firm Drawdown Shield, leverage protection, draggable custom price alerts, keyboard controls, and real-time synchronization with KD SMC Mini Charts.
Key Features
-
Structure-Based Stop Loss: Uses detected swing structure to determine a structural Stop Loss level, with ATR-based buffering and a configurable minimum Stop Loss distance.
-
Current or Higher-Timeframe Swing Source: Select whether the structure engine uses swings from the current timeframe or a higher timeframe when calculating structural levels.
-
Configurable Swing Structure Engine: Adjust ZigZag Depth, Deviation, and Backstep to control swing detection.
-
ATR-Based Stop Loss Buffer: Configure the ATR period and multiplier used to provide additional distance beyond the selected structural level.
-
Multiple Take Profit Methods: Use an opposing swing or structural target, or calculate Take Profit from a fixed risk-to-reward ratio.
-
Risk-to-Reward Controls: Configure the target risk-to-reward ratio and the maximum TP:SL ratio used in structure-based target mode.
-
Position Sizing by Risk Percentage: Calculates the corresponding lot size from the selected percentage of account balance, Stop Loss distance, and instrument specifications.
-
Minimum Risk and Stop Loss Controls: Configure a minimum risk amount and a hard minimum Stop Loss distance.
-
Draggable Entry, SL and TP Lines: Reposition the Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit preview levels directly on the chart. Moving the Entry line adjusts the associated SL and TP levels together to preserve the planned setup.
-
Prop Firm Drawdown Shield: Configure an initial balance reference and maximum daily and total drawdown thresholds for account-level risk monitoring.
-
Leverage Protection: Configure a maximum leverage limit or use the broker's leverage information as a reference for the protection logic.
-
9 Custom Price Alerts: Set up to nine independent price-alert lines, drag each line to the required price level, and receive a sound notification when an armed level is reached.
-
Hotkey Controls: Create Buy/Sell previews, show or hide SL/TP lines and labels, manage the nine custom price-alert lines, and reset the trade preview to the current market price directly from the keyboard.
-
SL/TP Preview: Displays planned Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit levels together with relevant trade information directly on the chart.
-
KD SMC Mini Charts Synchronization: When used together with KD SMC Mini Charts, Entry, Stop Loss, Take Profit preview levels, and supported alert lines can be mirrored onto the mini charts in real time.
Hotkey Controls
KD Auto SLTP provides keyboard shortcuts for frequently used chart functions:
-
Ctrl+Shift+B: Create or display the Buy preview.
-
Ctrl+Shift+S: Create or display the Sell preview.
-
Ctrl+Shift+0: Show or hide the SL/TP lines.
-
Ctrl+Shift+L: Show or hide the SL/TP labels.
-
Ctrl+Shift+1 to 9: Show or hide custom price-alert lines 1 to 9.
-
Ctrl+Shift+R: Reset the Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit preview to the current market price.
The Entry, Stop Loss, Take Profit, and custom price-alert lines can be repositioned directly on the chart. This allows the automatically calculated setup to be used as a starting point and then adjusted visually when required.
Synergy with the KD Trading System
KD Auto SLTP and Custom Price Alerts is the 3rd pillar of the system, providing trade planning, position sizing, risk-level management, and custom price monitoring:
-
KD Ultimate SMC: Provides market-structure information that can be compared with the swing levels used for Stop Loss and Take Profit planning.
-
KD SMC Mini Charts: Displays KD Auto SLTP's Entry, Stop Loss, Take Profit preview levels, and supported custom price-alert lines across additional timeframe views.
-
KD Auto SLTP and Custom Price Alerts (This Tool): Calculates structure-based Stop Loss levels, Take Profit references, and position size according to the selected risk parameters, while providing draggable trade levels and up to nine custom price alerts.
-
KD MTF VWAP: Provides VWAP and Standard Deviation levels that can be used as additional price references when reviewing potential targets.
-
KD MTF Candle Timer: Provides bar-close countdown information when waiting for a completed candle before finalizing a setup.
-
KD HTF Candles: Provides higher-timeframe candle context that can be compared with structural invalidation levels.
-
KD MTF Dashboard: Provides a broader multi-timeframe market overview that can be reviewed alongside the planned trade levels.
Practical Use Cases
Use Case 1: Structure-Based Stop Loss Placement
-
Setup: A potential entry is being evaluated around an Order Block, swing level, or another structural area.
-
In practice: KD Auto SLTP uses the selected swing source and its ZigZag structure settings to locate a relevant structural level. An ATR-based buffer is then applied beyond that level for the Stop Loss calculation.
-
Purpose: Provides a consistent method for calculating Stop Loss placement from detected price structure.
Use Case 2: Current-Timeframe or Higher-Timeframe Stop Reference
-
Setup: You are reviewing a lower-timeframe entry but want the Stop Loss calculation to reference either local or broader swing structure.
-
In practice: Select the Current Timeframe or Higher Timeframe as the swing source. The structure engine then uses the corresponding swing information when calculating the Stop Loss reference.
-
Purpose: Allows the structural reference used for Stop Loss calculation to be adapted to the timeframe context of the setup.
Use Case 3: Risk-Based Position Sizing
-
Setup: You want to use a defined percentage of account balance as the risk reference for a trade.
-
In practice: Set the Risk per Trade percentage. KD Auto SLTP uses the calculated Stop Loss distance and instrument specifications to determine the corresponding lot size.
-
Purpose: Reduces the need to recalculate position size manually when the Stop Loss distance changes.
Use Case 4: Adjusting Entry, Stop Loss and Take Profit Directly on the Chart
-
Setup: KD Auto SLTP has generated an initial Buy or Sell preview, but you want to adjust the planned levels manually.
-
In practice: Select and drag the Entry, Stop Loss, or Take Profit line directly on the chart. The preview information updates according to the adjusted levels. Moving the Entry line can move the associated SL and TP levels together.
-
Purpose: Combines automatic structure-based calculation with direct visual adjustment of the planned trade levels.
Use Case 5: Risk-to-Reward Take Profit Planning
-
Setup: A Stop Loss has been calculated and you want to use a predefined risk-to-reward target.
-
In practice: Select the risk-to-reward Take Profit mode and configure the desired ratio, such as 1:2 or another supported value.
-
Purpose: Calculates the Take Profit distance relative to the planned Entry and Stop Loss distance.
Use Case 6: Opposing-Structure Take Profit Reference
-
Setup: You want Take Profit to reference market structure rather than only a fixed risk-to-reward ratio.
-
In practice: Select the Market Structure Take Profit mode. The indicator uses an opposing swing or structural target as the Take Profit reference, subject to the configured TP:SL ratio ceiling.
-
Purpose: Allows the target calculation to incorporate detected price structure.
Use Case 7: Prop Firm Drawdown and Leverage Monitoring
-
Setup: You are trading an account with predefined daily drawdown, total drawdown, or leverage limits.
-
In practice: Configure the initial balance reference, maximum total drawdown, maximum daily drawdown, and leverage limit according to the account requirements.
-
Purpose: Keeps the configured account-level risk limits available as part of the trade-planning workflow.
Use Case 8: Monitoring Multiple Price Levels with Custom Alerts
-
Setup: You want to monitor several price levels without continuously watching the chart.
-
In practice: Use Ctrl+Shift+1 to 9 to display the required alert lines, then drag each line to the desired price. When an armed level is reached, the configured sound notification is triggered.
-
Purpose: Allows up to nine user-defined price levels to be monitored independently from the same chart.
Use Case 9: Fast Trade Planning with Hotkeys
-
Setup: You want to review or adjust a Buy or Sell setup without repeatedly opening indicator settings.
-
In practice: Use Ctrl+Shift+B for a Buy preview or Ctrl+Shift+S for a Sell preview. Use Ctrl+Shift+0 to show or hide SL/TP lines, Ctrl+Shift+L for their labels, and Ctrl+Shift+R to reset the preview to the current market price.
-
Purpose: Provides keyboard access to frequently used trade-planning and chart-display functions.
Use Case 10: SL/TP and Alert Synchronization with KD SMC Mini Charts
-
Setup: Run KD Auto SLTP on the main chart together with KD SMC Mini Charts.
-
In practice: Entry, Stop Loss, Take Profit preview levels, and supported custom price-alert lines are mirrored onto the mini charts in real time.
-
Purpose: Keeps the same planned trade and alert levels visible while reviewing price action across additional timeframes.
