IShowTrend — Adaptive Trend Analysis with Genetic Optimization
IShowTrend identifies bullish and bearish market phases and displays them as colored candles. It combines moving averages with many zero-centered trend oscillator formulas and uses a genetic algorithm to search for suitable configurations.
Signals are evaluated on closed candles. A change in the oscillator’s sign indicates a potential trend reversal, while an exact zero preserves the previous direction.
The optimization evaluates historical swing trades, includes a configurable spread cost, and ranks eligible configurations by the selected performance criterion. The information panel displays optimization progress, the selected configuration, and historical performance statistics. Search progress is saved so an interrupted optimization can resume.
Settings
| Parameter | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| SearchBudget | 10000 | Maximum number of unique configurations evaluated during each optimization run. Larger budgets allow a broader search but require more processing time. |
| MinimumTrades | 100 | Minimum number of completed simulated trades required for a configuration to qualify for ranking. |
| CaclulatedBars | 100000 | Requested number of historical bars used for performance evaluation, subject to available history and initialization requirements. |
| AppliedSpread | 30 | Fixed spread cost, expressed in symbol points, included in simulated trade results. |
| OptimizeHours | 24 | Waiting interval, in hours, between completion of an optimization and the next scheduled run. |
| AutoOptimizationType | ProfitFactor | Ranking criterion: SwingPoints prioritizes net profit in points; ProfitFactor prioritizes profit factor; ComplexCriterion combines profit, profit factor, drawdown-related recovery, and trade count. |
Genetic optimization explores a limited subset of possible configurations and does not guarantee the global optimum. Displayed statistics are historical simulations, not a guarantee of future trading performance.
