Smart Exit EA — Ride the Trend, Skip the Chop
Smart Exit EA follows a trend with an adaptive ATR trailing line and stays in the move until the trend really turns. It is built for two problems every trend trader knows: getting shaken out of a good trade too early, and getting chopped up in a sideways market.
What It Does
- Rides trends longer. The trailing stop moves one way only — toward profit, never away from it. A winning trade is given room to run instead of being cut short.
- Ignores false turns. When price crosses the trend line, the EA does not react immediately. It waits for the move to hold for a set number of bars. Short-lived whipsaws are skipped instead of traded.
- Stays out of flat markets. An efficiency filter measures how cleanly price is actually travelling. When the market is just chopping back and forth, new entries are blocked.
- Trades with the bigger picture. A higher-timeframe filter allows entries only in the direction of the larger trend, so you are not fighting the dominant move.
- Keeps looking for the entry. If a signal is blocked by a filter, the trade is not thrown away. The EA stays ready and can still enter on a later bar once conditions improve.
How Your Account Is Protected
- A real stop loss is sent to the broker with every position — never a virtual one. If the broker rejects or drops it, the EA retries and closes the position rather than leaving it unprotected.
- The stop trails the trend line at a set buffer and never widens.
- Entries are blocked when the spread is too wide, when the required margin would exceed half of your free margin, or when your daily loss limit is reached.
- Optional caps: maximum lot size, minimum margin level, daily loss limit for this EA alone or for the whole account.
- Live trading stays locked until you explicitly accept the risk in the settings.
On-Chart Dashboard
A clean panel shows you exactly what the EA is thinking, live: trend direction and market regime, efficiency reading, current stop distance, bars since the last turn, fake-flip statistics from the last 50 signals, filter status, open position and P/L, and your account figures.
Tested Results
Strategy Tester, GOLD on the H1 chart with the H4 filter, one year of history at 100% quality, fixed 0.25 lot on a 10,000 deposit:
- Profit factor 1.61 • Recovery factor 2.80 • Sharpe ratio 1.62
- Maximum balance drawdown 18.47%
- 152 trades • net profit 46,653
Know the trading style before you buy. This EA wins less than half of its trades (42%) and makes money because the winners are roughly twice the size of the losers. Losing streaks are normal and expected — the longest in the test was 9 trades in a row. If a strategy that is right most of the time is what you are looking for, this is not it.
Past performance is not a promise of future results.
Recommended Setup
- Attach to an H1 chart and leave the higher timeframe filter on H4.
- Tested defaults: ATR period 30, lookback 30, multiplier 3.0, confirmation 8 bars, stop buffer 0.5 ATR.
- Start with a small fixed lot, or switch to percent-risk sizing to scale with your balance.
- Works on any symbol and any chart timeframe — GOLD H1 is simply the configuration that was studied most.
- Run one instance per symbol.
Every setting is documented in the included manual.
