Time Period Labels

TimePeriodLabels – See where new periods start on any chart

A clean indicator that draws vertical lines and labels when a new year, month, week or day begins. No more squinting at dates or placing manual lines every time you open a chart. Each period type has its own colour and style so you instantly know what changed.

What it does

• Detects when the day, week, month or year flips on the current timeframe.

• Draws a vertical line at the first bar of the new period.

• Adds a text label (for day, month and year) – day labels sit at the bar low, month labels at the bar high, year labels above the month label.

• Week boundaries get a line only (no text label) to keep things minimal.

Customise everything

• Show/hide each period type independently (turn off “year” if you don’t need it).

• Set line colour, width, and style (solid, dash, dot, dash-dot) for each period.

• Change label colour, font, and font size separately for year, month, and day.

• Rename days and months into your own language via input strings (e.g. “Lundi”, “Februar”). The indicator adds padding so labels don't overlap.

• Toggle option to append the year to month labels (“2025 March” vs just “March”).

• Choose any font installed on your system.

How it works
The indicator runs on all bars and checks the date structure of each bar compared to the previous one. When a period changes it creates an object line and a text object. All objects are prefixed “TPL_” and removed automatically when you remove the indicator.

What you actually get
Lines and labels that map out time breaks cleanly, on any symbol and timeframe. Hover over a line or label to see the exact date and the day/month name. Because it’s built with chart objects, it doesn’t mess with the data window and won’t slow things down. Delete the indicator and it clears everything out, so you can add or remove it whenever.

Settings at a glance

• Visibility switches for Year, Month, Week, Day.

• Year line colour/width/style, label colour/size.

• Month line colour/width/style, label colour/size, option to append year.

• Week line colour/width/style (line only).

• Day line colour/width/style, label colour/size.

• Font name, custom day names (Mon–Sun), custom month names (Jan–Dec).

Installation
Attach to any chart, set your colours and labels, and it runs. Remove the indicator from the chart to clean up all objects at once.
