metaeditor64.exe - entry point not found - page 5

I have had the same problem posted here: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/478011#comment_55354572

and here: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/478011#comment_55354611

my quite simple solution.

Michael Charles Schefe has uploaded the working versions on google drive. If you need this write him a pm for the link or you can ask me.

Thank you, some how I missed your post. If I understand correctly just rename the new one and replace with older ones and it should be fine? I have older copies so I can manually rollback.

it will work, but only for temporary solution. My file was updated to newest version again, almost instantly.

EDIT: I have added my exe files to encrypted folder so that those files cannot be updated or modified.

Problem :  terminal64 entry point not found appeared at the end of installing the latest version.

SOLUTUION : ADD "terminal64.exe" to your Firewall's Advanced Threat Defense exception (only antivirus exception is not enough),

I tried:

- reinstalled visual c++ redistributable (not helping)

- install other softwares (no problem installing or running)

- install MT5 latest version ( problem appeared)

- install broker version MT5 ( problem appeared)

I wanna thank you for the advice that solved my problem : )

I've never had this problem before installing or updating MT5 , however, I tried to run tester agent today and it says agent authorization error, so I downloaded and reinstalled the MT5 (lastest version) and the "terminal64 entry point not found" ERROR appeared.

I've never added any exe from the MT5 folder to the firewall's exception list before and everything was running fine..

I don't know why but it did work.

Adding Metaeditor to the Advanced Threat Defense exception list worked as a workaround. I'd love to know what changed that requires me to do that.

lots of users are "in the same boat" as you. no one has had to add it to exception lists for very long time now -- that is -- until now. It is up to the devs to fix. And apparently 4755 as the same issue. This is past rediculous now. It is just unprofessional.

I had that problem since the last beta update (and it happened in the past as well).

I solved it by adding an exclusion to my security app (bitdefender total security) - in bitdefender it seems that the "Advanced threat defence" was the cause. The exclusion of the editor .exe in there solved it for me.

What was changed for that version of metaeditor from others that needn't the exclusion? No clue.

Same issue, I thought it was the MT5 update or the OS update, Windows 11, version 24H2.

Added an exception to "Advanced threat defence" in bitdefender. Solved

It's effectively to the "devs to fix"...the ones from BitDefender or any other antivirus software.

It's ridiculous to detect wrongly a danger in a normal application using a protection system.

About False Alerts by Anti-Virus Software

MetaQuotes, 2010.05.21 13:57

In order not to write "A False Alarm" over and over again, one more time we make a statement:

  1. Our software does not contain trojan or any other viruses (this is nonsense - our reputation and our work is very important to us).

  2. All the authorized updates that are received by your terminals are checked for being additionally signed by our digital signature - no update can be accepted and installed if it has no digital signature (RSA 1024) of our revision builder.

It means that if the terminal got a message "Update available", they are fully trusted and created within our company. Though updates are distributed via brokers' trade servers, brokers can't modify update packages, cause this will change digital signatures of the update archive.

  3. All executable files of our programs are signed by trusted and verified digital certificates by Thawte, which guarantees that files will not be changed and proves our copyright.

  4. Any anti-virus warnings about problems with updates or authorized installers (downloaded from files.metaquotes.net) are only incorrect interpretations.

  5. Errors of anti-virus programs are based on heuristic engines that erroneously interpret Themida advanced protection system (developers' website http://www.oreans.com) as resembling a trojan or virus. The polymorph protection engine is subject to constant changes, influencing the detection by anti-virus software, producing one name or another.

  6. Warnings are generated only by a few not very popular anti-viruses, who do not take the trouble of deep analysis. Instead they simply block all software protected by Themida (as for example AVG, who earnestly warn "Win32/Themida"). More responsible anti-viruses do not generate suchlike messages.

  7. All builds of our software are automatically sent to AVG under the program "AVG Whitelisting Service" for software developer - we expect this will efficiently solve the problem of whitelisting.

the mq devs "need to" provide the files to the firewall/antivirus providers, prior to releasing the new program. mq will know prior to releasing those files, IF the new files will be blocked by the security programs. Geesh. This has been procedure of thousands of professional programs, around the world, prior to releases for decades. But not for mq.

The installer was from the MT5 website.

The version of MT5 that I'm running is:

5.00 build 4735

Hi!,

SOLUTUION : ADD "terminal64.exe  to your Antivirus Firewall's Advanced Threat Defense exception. It works to me.

Good day everyone

If I cannot access to the terminal due to this problem, how can I stop the algo on the VPS?

The only way I found so far is through the MT5 software on the PC. There is nothing on the webpage or in the mobile app as backup.

If you read this topic thread, then you would have seen that the solution is to have your anti-virus and firewall software consider an exception to this application so that will run normally.
