metaeditor64.exe - entry point not found

Earlier today LiveUpdate ran and now I can't open metaeditor. Last week I had trouble opening the terminal with the same error it just said terminal64.exe but eventually it went away. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me.

BTW, I looked at older posts that describe similar issues but they were related to windows dlls. For giggles I followed the suggestions in the past post, including disabling my antivirus and firewall software even though it wasn't ZoneAlarm but still the issue remains.

Past posts that I looked at tried:

screenshots of the error and the version of MT5 are attached

At this point I'm guessing the issue with the latest build give the update is from last night based on the version info. I'm using windows 11 if that matters. I can provide more specifics if asked.

Thanks for sharing the details. Your approach is commendable.

Can you provide more specifics about current status of your MetaEditor issue?

The attachment on the initial post shows the error. In short, I can't open MetaEditor since the latest liveupdate that I received this afternoon. I can open the terminal just fine but the editor won't open.

The editor gives the following error:

"The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\MetaTrader 5\MetaEditor64.exe"

The version of MT5 that I'm running is:

5.00 build 4735

9 Dec 2024

The prior build worked fine.

The installer was from the MT5 website.

I'm assuming the errors in the journal are from when I tried to click on the "IDE" button to edit an indicator I was working on. When I attempted to open MetaEditor directly is when I got the other more descriptive error.

that is same version that I have, but note that the installer on this site is for beta testing only. You should only use the installers from a broker.

But as i said it is same version that I am using, which is from a broker, so, this shouldnt be your problem. (we can only hope)

Thank you for the confirmation and checking. I wish there was a rollback option.

Have you checked the Windows Event Viewer, in both the System's and Application's sections for any error or warning messages?

If there is information there, it should identify the cause and maybe even a possible solution.

I haven't yet but I will shortly. Good call out.
