I want to build a PC to work with MT5, what do you advise and why? - page 4

Accidentally I was on the forum and saw the topic, my advice is to build a desktop on the server Xeon'a, look at the socket 2011v3, there are options with dual-processor assemblies, but in general, even a single-processor enough for almost any problem, type in YouTube or just google 2011v3 (egXeon E5-2696v3), better hardly find something (except maybeRyzen Threadripper 1950x).

Vladimir Pastushak:

You need a multiprocessor motherboard, lots of memory and multi-core processors. There are plenty of guys online who build such systems (know the ins and outs) to order.

The main tasks for this are video editing and engineering calculations. So go to any thematic resource and ask for contacts of people who do it.

For different price will assemble (sometimes inexpensively - China sells a lot of components) system with dozens of cores and hundreds of gigabytes of memory. Such systems have exactly before SSD, since it is practiced all work on a RAM-drive.

There are many pitfalls of building such a system yourself. Some modifications of processors with locked multipliers, somewhere with type of memory peculiarities, cooling system and other. So it's better to pay a little extra, but to get a reliable custom machine.

This market is developing, so it's just a question of willingness.

It is not enough that they don't know about the hardware, and they have never even optimised it.
If you run any Expert Advisor with millions of combinations for optimization and open Task Manager, see how much memory the terminal is using.

The main thing in the optimization is the CPU. It's also popular now to order second-hand server processors from Ali. Motherboards for them, as well as RAM are ordered there. As usual motherboards are not suitable and the memory of server solutions is special. As a result they receive solutions twice cheaper than what is available in shops with comparable performance. There are even dual-processor solutions, which can easily compete with the latest i9 processors of the last generation. And the price is still many times cheaper. Of course there will be no guarantee, but the margin of safety has always been higher with server solutions.

MT4 and MT5 do not depend much on permanent memory either. the use of SSD does not give a noticeable performance increase. However, using HDDs for the system in 2019 is such a thing, only for long-term data storage. And if they are valuable, it is worth doing a raid array.

Nikolay Khrushchev:

Where are these memory experts coming from? Not only do they have no understanding of hardware, but they have never been involved in optimization.

another expert has come along and bamboozled all the experts)

soon to come a specialist who will say - need to look at new technologies in the processor that some operations on a single core to count faster than 2-3 cores on the prots from ali

I once asked a question to Renat, what technology is used (the instructions) AVX 2.0 such as etc., he said something like - ah, you can build a farm from a bunch of processors from eBay and build a farm)

For example switching from Sandy to Ivi Bridge gives me a 5% increase in MT since nothing has changed in the processor, but the next Haswel immediately +40% in calculations, and then again by 5%. This is just an example.

on the new Ryzen don't remember in the announcement some operations it will start to calculate 2 times faster, if MT uses these operations in a significant way, then this CPU will be an ideal choice, and to collect junk from ali, which the smart chinese get rid of will be a big mistake.

the biggest drawback with the trader is the new socket and a new niche for them (servers), in half a year they can turn this socket saying the first pancake) and run the TR5 line

I am looking at their top but i cant find a mother for TR4

Vladimir Pastushak:

I'm just eyeing their top, only I can't find a mother on TR4

The new 3*** Epyc ROME torps will come out before the Ryzen desktop ones

There's a conference in a week, maybe they'll give some kind of a deadline.

I don't know what instructions and how much MT uses, if money is not an issue then the number of cores and the newness of the CPU is a big plus

Fast528:

And picking up junk from Ali that the clever Chinese get rid of would be a big mistake.

Can they shut down ali and use all the useful stuff they sell there only for themselves?
Can you justify the "mistake" of such a choice?

What did I write above? five lines of instructions for new printers

Vladimir has already written many times that money is not a problem, but no, they offer servers to support ats, and then they offer outdated xeons that the chinese have decided are no longer effective for them,

another suggested a laptop, the fourth had water cooling in mind)
