I need to download all the ticks for a futures that expired long ago and there is no data for it directly on the disc. How to do it using the CopyTicks function ?

Is there any way to understand if the CopyTicks function has returned all existing ticks on the broker's server or not yet? I have read the help on the function, but the example with Sleep(1000) and three attempts to request history looks strange.
