When choosing a symbol for a new EA, it helps to know what other builders describe. It is equally important not to confuse that count with a proven edge.
What the October 5 export shows
I parsed the Symbols field in an October 5, 2026 Lattice export of 6,662 trading-strategy specifications. 1,611 records named at least one explicit FX pair. EURUSD appeared in 1,141 of those 1,611 (70.8%), followed by GBPUSD at 647 (40.2%) and USDJPY at 416 (25.8%). The next seven were AUDUSD 282 (17.5%), GBPJPY 236 (14.6%), EURJPY 179 (11.1%), USDCAD 163 (10.1%), USDCHF 162 (10.1%), NZDUSD 119 (7.4%), and EURGBP 81 (5.0%).
| Pair | Records | Share of 1,611 |
|---|---|---|
| EURUSD | 1,141 | 70.8% |
| GBPUSD | 647 | 40.2% |
| USDJPY | 416 | 25.8% |
| AUDUSD | 282 | 17.5% |
| GBPJPY | 236 | 14.6% |
The parser matched explicit adjacent or slash-delimited fiat codes in Symbols , ignored case, and counted each pair at most once per record. EURUSD and EUR/USD were treated alike. Gold and generic values such as “any liquid symbol” were outside this FX denominator. A multi-pair EA can contribute to several rows, so percentages need not sum to 100%. All 6,662 source-URL fields in this snapshot were distinct, although distinct pages can still describe similar logic.
What a pair mention does not prove
This is a reported-symbol ranking, not a ranking of live EAs, execution quality, profitability or market share. The source CSV is an internal research export; the figures above are dated aggregates from that export. A newer October 12 backup reports 9,231 canonical strategies, but its row-level symbols were not used for these percentages. An earlier selected export of 85 entries also had a different sampling rule and should not be treated as the same population.
The practical research question now is whether these frequently named pairs survive the same independent test gate at comparable costs and over comparable windows. A builder should not choose EURUSD merely because it tops a list of published ideas.
Method note: Snapshot October 5, 2026; unit one strategy-specification row; eligible denominator 1,611 rows with at least one explicit FX pair; total catalog 6,662 rows; pair mentions may overlap. No performance inference was made.
