What is liquidity? Every swing high has a crowd of orders resting just above it: stop losses from sellers and buy stops from breakout traders. Every swing low has the mirror image below it. These clusters are pools of liquidity, and large players need them to fill size. That is why gold so often "reaches" for an untouched high or low before it decides on direction.

Why it matters A level that has not been broken yet still holds those orders. Once price breaks through it, the stops trigger and the move tends to accelerate. Those are the breakouts worth trading.
