Beagle Gold: +851% in backtests since 2023. The first 9 months closed below the deposit
Today Lucky Dogs Trading Systems launches Beagle Gold, a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor for gold (XAUUSD) where every trade is born with its stop loss on your broker's server, and the lot grows with your balance.
In a continuous backtest on real ticks, from January 2023 to October 2026, Beagle took 10,000 USD to 95,071 USD (+851%) on the default Moderate profile, with a maximum drawdown of 27%, measured on every tick. Most of that came in 2025 and 2026. 2023 is the other half of the story, and it's below.
The backtest numbers
Measured in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester with every tick based on real ticks, real spread and commission, and 1:100 leverage. Each year restarts at 10,000 USD, so one year can't hide another. Each cell shows the year's return / that year's maximum equity drawdown, measured on every tick:
| Profile (return / drawdown) | 2026 through October | 2025 | 2024 | 2023 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative | +46% / 5% | +60% / 4% | +9% / 8% | +3% / 17% |
| Moderate (default) | +133% / 12% | +185% / 8% | +13% / 17% | +12% / 27% |
| Maximum | +768% / 22% | +1,209% / 20% | +22% / 39% | +17% / 62% |
- In the continuous backtest on Moderate, 35 of 46 months closed positive (21 of 22 in 2025 and 2026), with a profit factor of 1.76.
- The worst day cost 4.3% of the balance (July 2023), and the worst month was February 2024, at -11.0%.
- The full table, with all five profiles, is on the product page.
The catch: 2023
In the backtest, an account started in January 2023 stayed below its deposit at every month-end through September. The low point came in June, 27% below the peak, and the year closed at +12%. 2024 wasn't much livelier: +13% in the table above, and across 2023 and 2024 only 14 of 24 months were positive in the backtest.
2025 and 2026 returned far more because gold moved far more (a strong rally in 2025; a strong rise and fall in 2026), and the automatic lot compounds with the balance: gains make the next trades larger, losses make them smaller. Those were exceptional years, not a rate to project forward. If gold goes back to moving the way it did in 2023, that's the year to compare against.
Why "a stop on the server" matters
Every Beagle trade reaches your broker's server with its stop loss attached: if your internet drops or your computer shuts down, the trade stays protected. No grid, no martingale, no averaging down: the lot never grows after a loss, and at most two trades are open at the same time. The risk profile you choose sets the estimated cost of one trade at its stop, from 1% of the balance on Conservative to 5% on Maximum.
What it includes
- Five risk profiles, from 1% to 5% per trade: choosing the profile is the whole setup.
- An automatic lot that grows with the account (on the balance, the equity or a fixed slice of the account, for sharing it with other EAs), or a fixed lot for prop firms.
- Account drawdown protection, a lot cap, an optional pause on FOMC and US payroll days and an optional Short Friday. All off by default, and the numbers above are with them off.
- Any server time zone: Beagle detects your broker's on its own. Any name for the gold symbol, one chart.
- An on-chart panel with the account, execution, Beagle's own risk and drawdown, and results for the day, week, month and all time.
Launch price
The first 10 copies sell for 99 USD. After that, the price rises by 50 USD every 10 copies up to 999 USD, then by 100 USD every 10 copies up to 2,499 USD. From there, it rises with demand, up to a final price of 2,999 USD. It goes up with sales, never with the calendar. Beagle is new on the Market and has no live signal at launch: early buyers take on more uncertainty, and they pay less for it.
During the launch you can also rent it for 1 month at 30 USD, to see it live on your broker. Before either, run the free demo on your broker's gold.
