How I Use a Dynamic 0.382/0.618 Retest on XAUUSD M1

Many pullback methods ask the trader to follow price and then decide which moving average or timeframe matters after the move has already started. I wanted a simpler manual workflow: let price establish direction first, then wait for it to return to a dynamic zone.

That is the idea behind the Aurum Retest workflow. It is not designed to predict every reversal or chase every breakout. It waits for a complete break of two dynamic levels, arms one direction and then watches for a retest and rejection.

Aurum Retest break retest rejection workflow

The sequence is fixed: break, retest, then rejection confirmation.

What the two dynamic levels represent

The indicator calculates a rolling market range from a configurable lookback. The default is 300 bars. Two levels are projected from that range:

  • 0.382: the more responsive boundary
  • 0.618: the more conservative boundary

These are not permanent horizontal support and resistance lines. They move when the rolling range changes. On XAUUSD M1, this provides a compact way to see whether price is outside the zone, interacting with a boundary or still trapped between the two levels.

Break, retest and rejection

The basic workflow is deliberately sequential:

  1. Price moves through the complete dynamic zone.
  2. The indicator arms the direction of that break.
  3. Price returns to the relevant 0.382 or 0.618 boundary.
  4. A closed candle confirms rejection from the area.
  5. A BUY or SELL arrow can appear with Entry, SL, TP1, TP2 and TP3 references.

The projected targets use RR 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3. They are visual planning references, not automatic orders. Aurum Retest is a manual indicator and never opens, manages or closes a trade.

RAW and FILTERED modes

RAW mode is the responsive baseline. It is useful when I want to see the basic break-retest behavior with fewer restrictions.

FILTERED mode asks for stronger rejection and applies additional repeat-touch controls. It normally produces fewer signals. That trade-off is intentional: RAW is more active, while FILTERED is more selective.

Neither mode removes market risk. Spread, liquidity, news and broker data can all change the result.

When I prefer to wait

The zone is also useful when no entry is present. If price keeps rotating inside the space between 0.382 and 0.618, I treat that as a reason to wait rather than force a directional decision. Repeated touches around the same boundary can also mean that the level is being tested rather than cleanly rejected.

This is why the workflow suits my manual trading style: I do not need to choose an EMA after every move or chase a crossover. I can wait for price to complete the sequence and return to the area.

Manual Entry SL and TP risk map

Entry, SL and TP1-TP3 are references for manual planning, not trade execution.

How to test the Free Demo in MT4

MQL5 Market demo indicators are evaluated in the Strategy Tester Visual Mode rather than on a live chart.

  1. Open the Aurum Retest MT4 product page and select Free Demo.
  2. In MetaTrader 4, open the Strategy Tester with Ctrl+R.
  3. Select Aurum Retest MT4 as the indicator.
  4. Choose XAUUSD and the M1 timeframe.
  5. Enable Visual Mode and start the test.
  6. Begin with the default 300-bar range and watch how the zone, armed direction, arrows and RR map react as price develops.

The primary development workflow is XAUUSD M1. Other symbols and timeframes may behave differently, so test them independently before making any live decision.
