Moving your MT4/5 Transmitter to MT4 Receiver setup to another computer or VPS

If you have an existing MT4/5 transmitter terminal to MT4 receiver terminal setup with open trades and want to transfer it to another Windows computer or VPS while preserving all settings and trade continuity, follow these steps:

1. Locate gvariables.dat file in initial Receiver MT4 Terminal: Open the MT4 receiver terminal. Navigate to MT4 >> File >> Open Data Folder >> Profiles folder. Find the gvariables.dat file.

2. Copy gvariables.dat file: Copy the gvariables.dat file from the initial receiver MT4 terminal.

3. Set up the new MT4/5 Transmitter to MT4 Receiver on the new Computer or VPS: Install and set up the MT4/5 transmitter to MT4 receiver on your new computer or VPS.

4. Locate gvariables.dat file in new Receiver MT4 Terminal: In the receiver MT4 terminal on the new setup, go to MT4 >> File >> Open Data Folder >> Profiles folder.

5. Replace gvariables.dat file: Replace the gvariables.dat file in the new receiver MT4 terminal with the one copied from the initial receiver MT4 terminal.

Now, your entire MT4/5 transmitter to MT4 receiver setup is successfully moved to the new computer or VPS. With this transfer, you can seamlessly manage your receiver copied trades even after modifying or closing any of your MT4/5 transmitter trades.

Hello, make sure tha you have attatched only 1 Local Trade Copier EA on 1 chart of the transmitter account, any chart of any symbol and tha you have attached only 1 Local Trade Copier EA on 1 chart of the receiver, any chart of any symbol and it will copy all trades from all symbols.

If you want to copy between MT4 and MT5 terminals, you will need to purchase both MT4 and MT5 versions.

There is no option for random delay in the copying and closing of transmitter trades to the receiver, but you can use these 2 settings:

• Copying Delay in Seconds: With this setting you can copy a transmitter trade with a certain number of seconds delay to the receiver side.

• Closure Delay in Seconds: With this setting you can close the receiver trade with a certain number of seconds delay after the transmitter trade has been closed.

I installed the copier and would like to know if I can restrict the number of copied operations on the receiver. That is, if I already have two operations open in the transmitter and a third is opened, the third one should not be copied to the receiver. This is in order to avoid violating the staking rule of some funding companies where it is not allowed to have more than two open operations in the same symbol and in the same address.

Yes, you can limit the receiver copied trades on symbol or account level.

You can read the details in the settings/inputs guide:

• Total Symbol Copied Trades: The maximum number of trades per symbol separated by comma that can be copied onto the receiver account each time. For example if this setting is EURUSD1,GBPUSD2 the receiver account will copy only a total of 1 EURUSD trade and 2 GBPUSD trades onto the receiver account each time. For example if a total of 1 EURUSD trades and 2 GBPUSD trades have already been copied onto the receiver account, no more trades of these symbols will be copied onto the receiver account. This setting applies to pending orders too (if Copy Pending Orders=true) and resets when any receiver copied trades are closed.

So if you put in the receiver LTC settings:

Total Account Copied Trades: 2

the receiver LTC will only copy up to 2 trades at a time.

Metaquotes stopped licencing the MetaTrader platform to some prop firms that were serving US clients, even though they were unregulated.

 I don't think its a "quick" setup... There are a lot of entries to check ... but anyways ...

I like it when it works and frustrated when it does not work as below explains.

I use a lot of different magic numbers and a lot of currency pairs.

Ive inserted each one into the respective field but sometimes use a different magic or pair.

Then I discover it  has not been copied, sometimes a lot later as I dont check that each single trade is copied.

Is there a way to copy all magic numbers // all currency pairs without making a huge list ( Like X,E,R,T,Y,S,N,Q,Z,O,L AS A SIMPLE EXAMPLE )

Also could you make a slim version available with a lot less inputs, just a simple copier of everything.

Hello Patrick, that is exactly the point, it is a 'quick setup video', because the default settings will copy all magic numbers and all symbols without the need to put then in the respective settings.

You should put the magic numbers and symbols that you want to copy in the 'Magic Numbers to Copy' and 'Symbols to Copy' settings, only if you want to copy some specific magic numbers and symbols and leave some out.

In the case you want to copy them all, you simply need to use the default settings and put only the transmitter account number and the lot size type of your choice in the receiver settings.

i am doing a one thing wrong, am using another brokers MT4 for the receiver but logged into my broker.

I've tried to install a second MT4 on same pc but found it very difficult so I will stay with what I have.

They both have no prefix and symbols are the same. It works as long as I have included  symbols and magic

in the receiver lists.

And I have an icon on my Desktop to open each MT4, (one for my current broker and the icon from my previous broker),

which I think is what is tripping me up with two MT4 platforms from the same broker. But no worries.

Hello Luz, if Self Copier account mode is selected the EA will copy/multiply the trades opened by any expert advisors or manual inputs on the same trading account.

So, you may use it to multiply the trades of other EAs on the same trading account, that may have any kind of limitation in their lot size or even your manual trades.

HI Eleni. I did as you advised and have successfully installed a second MT4 from same broker, Yay.

I did need to copy and paste the EA from one account to the other on the same pc as it would only download on one MT4.

Have tested and it works perfectly with no pairs or magic numbers listed ( just like you said);

 with less delay in copying ( much quicker now I have the same broker)!

I have a question...

I had opened only one MT4 platform as a transmitter and my other MT4-receivers were closed for some reason.

I opened one position BUY on transmitter MT4 and after ca. 1hour later I opened my receiver MT4 accounts.

I was extremely shocked when on my all MT4-receivers the Copier opened position BUY as well immediately after opening, but at the current price of course, which was far away from the price opened on transmitter MT4 1 hour earlier.

Is it possible to avoid a situation like that in the future?
