Error of Setting Timer in MT4

When you get this error while you are trying to attach the Local Trade Copier EA MT4 on your MT4 chart/terminal, the EA cannot be initialized correctly and its removed from the chart. This is a MT4 terminal error and is not caused by the Local Trade Copier EA MT4. The solution is to restart your MT4 terminal and attach the Local Trade Copier EA MT4 on your chart again. If this issue persists, restart your computer or VPS, open your MT4 terminal and attach your Local Trade Copier EA MT4 on your chart again.

All seems correctly configured, but the trades are not copied from MT5 to MT4.

If any of your brokers use suffixes in their symbols, such as EURUSD.r or EURUSD+, watch the second part of the quick setup video below (starting at 1:30), which explains how to configure the suffix settings:

For example, if your transmitter account has the symbol EURUSD.r and your receiver account has the symbol EURUSD+, configure the receiver Local Trade Copier EA settings as follows:

If you are copying between accounts with the same broker, and both transmitter and receiver accounts have a symbol like EURUSDm, you still need to configure the suffix settings:

For instruments like indices or other symbols with entirely different names on the transmitter and receiver sides, you’ll need to use the Special Symbol setup. For example, if the transmitter symbol is US500 and the receiver symbol is SPX500, configure the receiver Local Trade Copier EA settings as follows:

If after checking these settings, you can't copy properly, send me full screenshots of your transmitter and receiver terminals with the MarketWatch windows open (as in my screenshot), along with your receiver settings as a set file so I can review them and assist further.

Local Trade Copier EA is designed to copy and close trades extremely fast, typically 0.2 to 0.5 seconds, but this speed depends heavily on the performance of your VPS and the connection quality to your brokers. The copier itself does not introduce delays, but several external factors can.

Here are the key points to check:

VPS performance and real CPU cores
Not all VPS servers are equal. Some advertise many “virtual cores”, but they offer poor real performance. This can easily add 300–700 ms of latency to copying.
If your MT4/MT5 charts freeze or the prices stop updating, that is a direct sign your VPS is overloaded.
Latency to broker servers
Check the ping (in the bottom right corner of MT4/MT5).
For fast copying you need below 10–15 ms.
Anything above 30–40 ms can delay both copying and order closure.
Running multiple terminals
Each MT4/MT5 terminal consumes CPU and RAM.
If you run many terminals on the same VPS, execution will slow down even if the VPS specs look “good on paper.”
Network-related disruptions
Brief interruptions between the transmitter and receiver terminals (or between terminal and broker) can delay trade copying or closure.
High-frequency trading limitations

Based on the information you provided, the delay is not caused by Local Trade Copier EA, but by your infrastructure, mainly two factors:

1. Very high broker latency (92–95 ms)
With this ping, a closure delay near 1 second is expected.
Fast copying is only possible when broker latency is:

• Below 10–15 ms (ideal)
• Below 30 ms (acceptable)

Please ask your broker where their trading servers are located, so you can choose a VPS in that same region. This alone will reduce the delay dramatically.

2. Underpowered VPS resources
Your VPS shows:

• Only one (virtual) CPU core
• Very low available RAM
• Limited virtual memory

This slows down MT5, especially during trade closures.

Recommended solution

For two MT5 terminals (1 transmitter + 1 receiver), the following VPS is fully adequate and provides strong real performance:

Hi,

I have purchased both the MT4 and MT5 Copier.

Issue:

The EA is running and trades are being placed correctly. However, the exit is happening at a different rate. After investigation, I found that when the Stop Loss (SL) is modified on the Transmitter (MT4), it is NOT being modified on the Receiver (MT5) in real time.

In short:

- SL and TP modifications on the Transmitter (MT4) are NOT syncing to the Receiver (MT5) in real time.

- Trade entry is copied correctly, but SL/TP updates are not being replicated.

Please refer to the screenshots attached below for both the Transmitter

and Receiver.

- Due to this issue, a profitable trade was closed at a loss.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Hello Bharat and thank you for your purchase,

I see that your receiver XAUUSD trade was closed almost 1 hour later than the transmitter trade, don't you have in the receiver Local Trade Copier EA settings?

Synchronized Trade Closure: true

Also if you have 'Copy Stop Loss: true' the original SL and all its modifications should be copied/modified in the receiver copied trades too.

If that is not happening, then something is wrong in your setup I need to check it personally in order to find out what is wrong.

Finally I would like to see the receiver Experts tab log at the time this XAUUSD trade should have been closed, for any errors.

In the meantime, please send me your receiver Local Trade Copier EA settings as a set file and tell me how many MT4/5 terminals you keep open and the specifications of the VPS you are using, CPU-cores, RAM and Windows Server OS.
