Gold Breaker
Nine pivot-breakout strategies on XAUUSD, one drawdown budget, no martingale.
Gold Breaker trades gold the way a desk would: it maps the significant highs and lows the market has just printed, waits at those levels with pending stop orders, and lets the breakout come to it. Nine independent strategies run side by side on the same chart, each with its own geometry, its own stop, and its own share of a single risk budget that you set once, in percent.
There is no grid, no averaging down, no doubling after a loss. Every position is sent with a stop loss attached. What you configure is not a lot size — it is the maximum total drawdown you are willing to carry, and the EA sizes all nine strategies to fit inside it.
What it actually does
Each strategy watches for a pivot: a high or a low that is extreme relative to the bars around it and old enough to have been confirmed. It places a stop order a fixed distance beyond that level, with a stop loss and a take profit derived from the same geometry. If the level is invalidated, the order is pulled and replaced. If price runs, an optional trailing stop follows the H1 pivots rather than a fixed distance, so the position is given room in a trend and cut quickly in chop.
The nine strategies differ in the pivot window they search, the distance they stand off the level, the width of their stop, and how they manage a running position. They are deliberately uncorrelated in their entries — several can be flat while one is working, and the portfolio effect is what keeps the equity curve from tracking any single idea.
Because gold has tripled in a decade, every level and distance is scaled to the current gold price rather than hardcoded in dollars. A setup that made sense at 1,800 still makes sense at 4,300, and the lot size is adjusted with it.
Choose your risk in one setting
TradeFrequency selects how many strategies run. The lower the setting, the more selective the EA and the smoother the curve.

The lot multipliers and the drawdown constants move with the set, so switching preset resizes the whole portfolio coherently — it is not a filter bolted on top.
Risk management you can actually reason about
- Drawdown-budget sizing. Set MaxAllowedDD as a percentage of balance. Every strategy is sized from its own historical drawdown constant so that the portfolio, not any single trade, targets that figure.
- Weighted lots. Strategies with a wider historical drawdown get proportionally smaller positions. One aggressive strategy cannot dominate the account.
- Daily drawdown cap. PropFirmMaxDailyDD stops trading for the rest of the day once the account is down that percentage of the day's opening balance. Set it to 0 to disable.
- Equity or balance, your call. Size on balance, on equity, or on a fixed figure you type in. OnlyUp keeps the sizing base at the highest balance reached, so lots never shrink with a drawdown — or leave it off for the conservative behaviour.
- Margin check before every order, optionally accounting for all orders already pending.
- Spread filter. New orders are blocked above your threshold; running positions are managed normally.
News and session handling
- NFP filter driven by the MQL5 economic calendar, with a configurable window before and after the release. Open positions and pending orders can be closed independently.
- Automatic GMT detection from the terminal, with manual winter/summer offsets as a fallback for brokers that report oddly.
- Friday stop at an hour you choose, closing pending orders, open positions, or both — so you decide what you carry over the weekend.
Built for real accounts, not just for the tester
- State survives a restart. The daily drawdown counter and the news-filter state are kept across a terminal restart or a VPS reboot.
- Virtual expiration. Pending-order deadlines are tracked by the EA instead of being sent to the broker, for brokers that do not honour expiry.
- Pending-order refresh. When the account grows and a pending order's lot drifts more than 5% from the correct size, the order is re-placed at the right size.
- Prop-firm offsets. Shift entry, stop, target, trailing and break-even by a fixed amount so two accounts running the same EA never send identical tickets.
- On-chart panel showing the active set, the sizing base, the current drawdown and each strategy's state.
Backtest — XAUUSD, H1, real ticks
Every figure below comes from the "Every tick based on real ticks" model. Results from the 1-minute OHLC model are materially more optimistic and are not quoted here.

Read 2022 carefully. It is the only year in this sample without a sustained gold uptrend, and it returned 4.6%. That is the honest picture of what this EA does when the market does not help. The later years are stronger because gold trended and because position size compounds with the account — not because the system improved.
Higher MaxAllowedDD settings scale both sides. At 30% the same period returns far more and draws down about 25%. The setting does what it says; choose it for the drawdown you can sit through, not for the return it prints.

On account size, plainly: below roughly 2,000 the calculated lot falls under the broker's 0.01 minimum on most trades. The floor then decides the size instead of the risk setting, and you end up carrying more risk than you configured, not less. If you are starting smaller, use a cent account or the Low risk preset.
Quick start
- Attach Gold Breaker to an XAUUSD H1 chart. One chart is enough — all nine strategies run from it.
- Load a preset, or set TradeFrequency to High risk.
- Set MaxAllowedDD to the drawdown you accept. Start low.
- Enable AutoTrading and allow the EA to read the MQL5 calendar.
- Leave it alone. This is a system that works over months, not over afternoons.
What Gold Breaker is not
- Not a martingale. Lot size never reacts to a previous loss.
- Not a grid. Orders sit at market structure, not at fixed intervals.
- Not a stop-less system. Every position carries a stop loss from the moment it fills.
- Not a black box on risk: you set a drawdown percentage and the EA sizes to it.
